Metroid Prime stands up not only as the most original, diverse and simply awe-inspiring game on the Gamecube, but as one of the five best videogames I have ever played.

A shining example of how a classic videogame series can be vividly reborn. While taking an enormous amount of liberties with the original concept, it manages to zero-in on the spirit of the Metroid series and hit a resounding bull's-eye.

The graphics are stunning, especially some of the effects on your visor. From steam fogging it and forming condensation, to water running off of it, there are a lot of cool visual effects. The morph ball transition is seamless and gorgeous.

The sense of being Samus is really found in the details. With just the right flash of light or glare against the visor, a thin, hazy reflection of Samus can be seen against the inner glass. It's quite cool... A fantastic, top-notch effort.

Perfect: from the Latin "perfectus"; entirely without fault or defect (flawless); satisfying all requirements; corresponding to an ideal standard or abstract concept; lacking in no essential detail... Add Metroid Prime to that definition.

Metroid Prime without a doubt has become my favorite game on the GameCube, and thus far my favorite game out of this generation of gaming. My favorite game ever is "Ocarina of Time" and Metroid Prime has come mighty close to being as outstanding as that masterpiece.

Rain falling and bouncing off your gun, a blast of steam fogs your visor and leaves condensation on it, a bright flash of light lets you see your own reflection in the visor. These are just a few of the many effects that make Metroid Prime stand out above its peers. I nearly wet myself the first time I fired my weapon rapidly and noticed that heat waves came out of the barrel.

Although the game’s save-point system is fine in principle, the points themselves are often well hidden, and almost impossible to find without a guide of some sort. Michael B. gave it a10:
Simply breathtaking. The incredibly gorgeous and atmospheric environments are what really make it earn a ten in my book. Genious puzzles. There's nothing more satisfying than just barely making it to a save station with barely any health left or hearing the classic chime after solving a difficult puzzle. This game is heavy on backtracking, but the amazing environments and power-ups that allow to constantly see something new everytime make it worth it.

Anonymous gave it a10:
You can't say that this game is bad because another game is better. It's as simple as that. It may or may not have lived up to it's hype - that's personal opinion really - it's not a reason to give this game anything below what it deserves. I have never owned a gamecube, I chose the xbox over it at the time (So you can expect a unbiased rating). Now I have a Wii, and replaying all the games I missed out on. Metroid Prime 1 is a brilliant game, very worth while for anyone with some free time, and defenately worth all 10 of my votes.

Liam T. gave it a10:
In my opinion Metroid Prime is a pure masterpiece of gaming. I rate Metroid Prime with a perfect score. Along with Ocarina of time its one of the best games ever made. The boss fights were such an intense experiance and are some of the best boss fights i have ever played. If they were any easier it would not have been the same for me. The graphics, the moody atmosphere, the music. I feel lost for words of compliment the game. Its bloody awsome.

Sean K. gave it a10:
Immersive environments, absolutely stunning to look at. The music is great too. Overall, a very artistic game, but that doesn't mean blowing the crap out of space pirates isn't as fun as ever! Best gamecube game out there.

Jason C. gave it a10:
They turned a classic platformer into a 1st person shooter and lost none of what made Metroid a great series, while adding a distinctive graphic style.

Carlos L. gave it a9:
This game is good. I like the controls since I;m not use to first person. Also the gameplay is fun with the enemies smart and you have to plan out how to kill them and the only drawback are the far save stations and sometimes you need to sit and think.

Benjamin B. gave it a9:
Great game, but why isn't there some kind teleport-system. although the design of the world is great, it can really annoy you when you have to go through the same area for the 10th time. i can really understand some bad reviews, because the game demands you to think and the normal casual gamer does not like to do so. he wants to sit in front of the tv-screen, to shut down the brain and having fun. when you are looking for a game where you do not have to think, it is definetly the wrong game for you. Although it is just a (maybe too artistic) masterpiece with great sounds, graphics and gameplay.
