:: Sending Promos to Cokemachineglow

As easy as our "job" of hyping/mocking records may be, we want you to make it easier. If you think we'd love your record but might not otherwise discover it because of our crippling laziness, why not just send it directly to us? Bigger publications might be too busy to give you the time of day, but as it turns out we really have nothing better to do. And, hey, we realize that it's the truly independent artists that need the promotion the most. We also realize you're sick of sugared-up ramen and toast, and we're trying our best to help.

But how do you get your band or label's record into our hands? Easy: e-mail us at promo@cokemachineglow.com, describing your record briefly. If it sounds like something worth your time and money to send us, we'll hit you back with an address. Simple as that.

A few notes, though. Read it well: Read or at least briefly skim our site first, know what we review and, more importantly, how we review. We're not a hype-rag, and we're not going to call your band's record "the best thing to happen to the world since existence" just because you were nice enough to send us something -- on your request, at that. We don't owe your band/label any favours, so don't expect us to lazily re-type press kits and promote you "just because," we leave that for the bigger acts. We're not going to apologize for publishing non-orgasmic reviews of your record. And, this is important, your record isn't guaranteed to be reviewed even if you send us three copies and follow-up twice a day. If we flat out just don't like what we hear, we're not going to rag on it -- especially if we know it's the only press that group/artist is gonna get. If we like, we'll review it. If we don't, well, consider it a nice way of saying "we'll pass, but I got three bucks for your record, so thanks all the same."

But, hey, you've got nothing to lose. We'll try to hook you up with the writer most likely to give your record a fair chance, and when we really get excited over hard-to-find releases, we usually push them in any extra manner we can; MP3 downloads, prominent review spots, interviews, all that good stuff -- all aimed at helping your record find a wider audience.
