You've got to love a restaurant that offers an olive oil tasting on the menu and also makes space for a glassed-in charcuterie and cheese room. It's wedged into a narrow space between the bar and the back dining room, which has a chic urban look. Owner Christopher Losa has created one of the coolest Italian restaurants in one of the most unlikely (read dicey) areas of the Mission District. It feels like New York's East Village, but the nod to organic, sustainable and recycled products is very West Coast. Elizabeth Binder's simple menu is versatile, designed for a quick bite or a full meal to match the unusual wines.
