Kelly Degala divides time between Va De Vi and his newer small-plates restaurant, Pres a Vi in the Presidio, but the Walnut Creek original still turns out great food under Arnold Pulido. The internationally inspired menu includes crispy chile rellenos stuffed with mushrooms, duck meatballs with a Vietnamese-inspired aioli and even a traditional coq au vin. The restaurant features an international wine list with 16 imaginative flights. The wine theme is reinforced in the dining room with a ceiling that resembles a wine barrel. There's also outdoor seating overlooking the street, or in back, shaded by a tree.
Specialties: Ahi tuna tartare; duck confit with steamed buns; crab pot pie; huckleberry bread pudding; chocolate souffle.
Lunch 11 a.m.-3 p.m. daily; dinner 5-9 p.m. Sun.-Thur., until 10 p.m. Fri.-Sat.
