Hi Everyone! Thank you for showing up for the chat :) I'm Kristen and I work on the IE8 Customer Feedback and Release team managing the IE8 Beta and the IE Blog.

Start of chat:

Helen [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Will the icons for the 3 tabs in the favorite bar return?
A: Could you be more specific? What was it you liked/didn't like about the icons?

Matt Crowley [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: whats the differents btw 7 n beta 8.1
A: There are many differences, including stronger security, Accelerators, and Web Slices! For a detailed overview, check out the web page at microsoft.com/ie/ie8.

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Hello everybody, I am a tester automator for Web Applications at CDC Software, what are the major improvements to the MSHTML libraries?
A: Well, MSHTML contains all of the improvements to the rendering and layout engines. I'm not sure I understand your question?

Frank Olivier [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Will IE8 have Thumnail Previews for Tabs like Opera does? This would be a really great add on for IE browser
A: That is an interesting suggestion, thanks. We do have a QuickTabs mode (Ctrl+Q) in IE7

JohnHrv [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: What are the main changes in the DOM programming for Internet Explorer between 7.0 and 8.0?
A: IE8 Beta 1 supports new APIs like the Selectors API, Ajax navigation, and DOM storage. We've also improved existing APIs like getElementById and the attribute methods to make them more interoperable with other browsers. this article has a good overview of new things in Beta 1, including DOM changes: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc288472(VS.85).aspx

Matt Crowley [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: I mean the MSHTML is still using COM objects Model? or has been changed to .NET DLL libraries?
A: We're still using COM and, no, we haven't switched to managed code.

Kristen [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: When we can expect IE8 Beta 2? I'm very excited about IE8 Beta 2 :
A: Hi Stefan - As we mentioned on the IE blog, Beta 2 is hitting the streets in August, which is upon us :) We are excited about Beta 2, too....stay tuned...

Jane [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Will you be able to move any toolbar in IE 8? This is something that a lot of people miss from IE6
A: Thanks for your feedback. We have had a few requests about moving toolbars in IE and are currently considering this for a future release.

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Will IE8 beta 2 be suitable for the average user to try? Or is it just for developers/pro's?
A: Beta-1 was targeted to Web Developers. We expect beta 2 will be much more appealing to users of all types.

Matt Crowley [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Can you add Thumbnail Previews in the Windows-Explorer of all associated IE file types like html..?
A: Thank's for the suggestion!

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: A known performance issue of IE is it waits too long when loading large webpages (sites with lots of content) before it actually let you scroll the page "while it's loading", have you worked on this so users can scroll the page sooner "while it's loading"?
A: We've been making significant investments in improving the performance of Internet Explorer in many places.

Matt Crowley [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: can IE 8 beta 2 co-exist with IE 7 or does it totally replace it?
A: It replaces it; there are *unsupported* tools out there such as Multiple IE that can do this, but, again, we do not support or recommend them.

Matt Crowley [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: However, if you typed in a generic phrase such as “coffee”, it would just search. You could go further and type in something like “Starbucks Gift Cards”, and it IE and Live Search would take you to http://www.starbucks.com/card/buyacard_style.asp. Firefox
A: Thanks for the suggestion!

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: As far as speed goes is IE8 faster then IE7?
A: We expect IE8 to be faster than IE7 in many scenarios. Improvement in script engine performance, network parallelization, and multi-process architecture (suitable for hyperthreaded/dual core machines) all help deliver faster performance.

JohnHrv [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Will IE Developer Toolbar have support for XHR like Firebug?
A: yes, and it's part of IE8 rather than an extension. in beta 1, click the 'Developer Tools' icon (cursor in angle brackets) on the command bar. i wrote a blog post about it here: http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2008/03/07/improved-productivity-through-internet-explorer-8-developer-tools.aspx

JohnHrv [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Is there a Internet Explorer Developer Toolbar for IE 8.0?
A: yes, and it's part of IE8 rather than an extension. in beta 1, click the 'Developer Tools' icon (cursor in angle brackets) on the command bar. i wrote a blog post about it here: http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2008/03/07/improved-productivity-through-internet-explorer-8-developer-tools.aspx

Matt Crowley [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Do you think IE8 will be a better browser then Firefox 3?
A: All browsers are wonderful in their own right! :)

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Exist IE 8.0 for Windows CE?
A: The Windows Mobile team is working to bring newer versions of IE to that platform. IE8 will be available for the desktop first.

JohnHrv [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Will IE Developer Toolbar have support for XHR like Firebug?
A: sorry, answered wrong question the first time. beta 1 does not have this functionality and we're not discussing features in beta 2 or other future releases.

Matt Crowley [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Can we expect for the final release the long awaited Download Manager?
A: We've significantly improved the download experience in IE, and we will continue to improve from version to version. Beta 2 will reveal more of these improvements.

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: What's the difference between Visual Studio WebBrowser and Internet Explorer 8.0 itself? Can I get IE 8.0 embedded in my Windows Forms Applications?
A: The latest version of the WebOC/Trident is automatically used in .NET applications when IE8 is installed. By default, the control operates in IE7 emulation mode.

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Will support for MIME types like application/xhtml+xml and application/javascript be included? And will IE 8 include an XHTML parser?
A: I'm not sure what you mean when you say "support for application/javascript"? IE8 is not an XHTML browser; it does include a number of HTML5 features, however.

Kristen [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: When do you publish the final Release of IE8?
A: Hi Muhammad - We have not publicly announced any release timeline information on IE8 aside from Beta 2 coming in August... The IE Blog is a good place to "listen" for this type of information. We typically share information when ready there.

Harel Williams[MSFT] (Moderator):
Q: Will IE8 support SVG Graphics? I really hope yes, 'cause all other browser vendors are ready for SVG...
A: We are always considering implementing new platform improvements for future versions of IE. SVG is great, but we would also encourage you to check out all you can accomplish with Silverlight.

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Does IE8 have a Spell Checker?
A: IE8 Beta 1 does not include a spell-checker. There are a number of great add-ons that add spell-check capabilities to IE7 and IE8.

Matt Crowley [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Bill Gates Use Firefox? or IE?
A: Bill Gates loves all browsers equally.

Kristen [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Users love the icons in the menus used in the current “Tools” and “Page” drop down menus. Have you gone further and added icons to the “File-Edit-View” and “Right Click” menus as well? Example: http://home.earthlink.net/~jasonw15/file-menu.jpg
A: Hi Jason - Thanks for this suggestion. We've received this feedback from other IE users and add it to the wishlist for a future release.

Jane [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Can you describe the mechanism behind browser restarts and state handling.
A: Can you be a bit more specific.

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: In the IE 7.0 version I added to my referenced libraries to MSHTML using Visual Studio and C#. When I called to FramesCount method it always throwed unhandled exception, does this problem has been fixed?
A: What was the exception specifically? That issue is most likely on the .NET side of things. There are cross-domain restrictions that limit access to frameset information, and it's possible that one of these is being hit.

Matt Crowley [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: [28] Great to hear, that you're improving the download experience with IE8! But I really hope you redesign that to basic functionality with stopping/resuming/canceling/scheduling functionality in ONE window (or new Tab like Opera?).
A: That is a good suggestion. Thanks!

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Eric: have you guys worked out the bug(s) we talked about when certain images don't pick up the picture properties for JPEG/GIF image and save as "untitled.bmp" files?
A: As noted, the problem with image-save-format concerns how they're delivered. Many other issues that historically caused this problem were fixed in IE7 or IE8b1. However, images that were a result of redirections or those that were delivered with no-cache headers are only available in bitmap form because no backing cache file can be found.

Kristen [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Can you talk about any of the new features that will be in IE Beta 2 for users?
A: We are not discussing any features in Beta 2 until it releases :)

Matt Crowley [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: One of the problems of IE is that times of saving Web Pages are very long and in this process IE is Locked, what solution do you think for this problem?
A: Many times saving a webpage to a system will cause disruptions when the page is heavy on AJAX.

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: The exception in Visual Studio 2005 were "Null object" for FrameSet counts. Why this problem happened on VS 2005 C# and not in VS 2003 C# Something related to the library wrapping?
A: Most likely. Have you used Lutz's Reflector to look at the internals of the wrapper?

Harel Williams[MSFT] (Moderator):
Q: [24] Okay, but you have to consider that SVG is a W3C standad and Silverlight not. Afaik you're (or the Silverlight team) not supporting other browsers like Opera...
A: As far as I can tell Silverlight is supported for OperA: http://operawatch.com/news/2007/05/more-details-on-silverlight-support-in-opera.html

Matt Crowley [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: when a proper xhtml doctype is given, IE8 won't go into quirks mode, right?
A: What behavior do you see in Beta 1?

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Do IE Support from Theme?
A: Internet Explorer supports the operating system theme, including colors, etc.

Jane [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: when the browser restarts it brings back all the tabs I had open what about state in each tab. I was filling out a form in a survey and IE8 crashed, when it comes back will it preserve that state...where I was in the state.
A: This is a great suggestion. We are looking into improving crash recovery to support state information. :)

Matt Crowley [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Matt: You liked my Internet Keyword search suggestion... would you be interested in me filling out a feedback suggestion?
A: I'd love to see it. Please do.

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Do IE Support from Other Theme?
A: Internet Explorer cannot be themed independently from the OS.

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Will IE8 make the internet a lot safer to use?
A: IE8 includes a number of significant security features that can help protect users and their computers. See http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2008/07/02/ie8-security-part-v-comprehensive-protection.aspx for a summary.

Harel Williams[MSFT] (Moderator):
Q: when a proper xhtml doctype is given, IE8 won't go into quirks mode, right?
A: That is correct. Find more details about docytype and quirks mode in IE8 here: http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2008/03/06/the-default-layout-mode.aspx

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: EricLaw: haven't tried beta 1 but I read a while ago that there had to be a special tag or attribute to force the browser not to go into quirks mode even though everything is well formatted and validated
A: IE8 uses standards mode by default for pages with a proper doc type.

Jane [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Has the popup Blocker been improved in IE8?
A: What improvements would you like to see in the pop-up blocker?

Matt Crowley [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: How Make a Add-ons for IE8?
A: You can get some information from msdn.com/ie, or you can visit EricLaw's page at www.enhanceie.com

Frank Olivier [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Users love the icons in the menus used in the current “Tools” and “Page” drop down menus. Have you gone further and added icons to the “File-Edit-View” and “Right Click” menus as well? Example: http://home.earthlink.net/~jasonw15/file-menu.jpg
A: That is a very good suggestion - We're seeing that a lot users use the toolbar menu (not the Menu Bar menus); we'll keep your feedback in mind.

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: No I did not. I just tried to use FrameSet and FrameCount and worked fine in VS 2003 but not in VS 2005. This is something that just happened on IE 7. I expect the fix for IE 8.0 :D
A: I'm confused about what you're saying. You say that it works fine in VS2003 but not VS2005. Why do you believe this is sensitive to the IE version?

Kristen [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: On the IE Blog, emails from volunteer Beta testers were solicited . Haven't gotten a response to mine, as yet. No automated "email received" response, nothin'. Any idea where we're at with those requests? *-)
A: We received an overwhelming response to the request for IE Beta Testers and it's taking us a bit of time to get to each mail, but we are getting through them. Is your mail marked with Fontman?

PeteL [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: [24] Okay, but you have to consider that SVG is a W3C standad and Silverlight not. Afaik you're (or the Silverlight team) not supporting other browsers like Opera...
A: Silverlight supports other browsers including Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer.

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Eric: Since this issue of the images is not IE's fault and it's the webpage server fault, to inform sites to get ready for the final release of IE 8, should I contact them and advise them to add a "cache" header to their images on their servers..
A: You could do so. Many sites, unfortunately, would prefer that you didn't save their images.

Frank Olivier [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: thanks Frank... here's the other example picture i made that might interest you... http://home.earthlink.net/~jasonw15/rightclick-menu.jpg "right click menu"
A: Very good mockup, thanks! I'll add the details to our wishlist.

Jane [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Do IE8 Support from Multi – Language? (e.g. Persian Language)
A: IE8 Beta1 comes in Chinese Simplified and German. IE8 Beta2 will support over 20 languages. We are still evaluating the list of supported languages for our final release.

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: ok. The steps are: Write an script to navigate automatically in IE 7.0, I am trying to get the information about FrameSet and FrameCounts in this C# script. But when I run this script using the VS 2003 compiler it works fine, but in VS 2005 it always fails
A: It certainly sounds like it could be a change in the wrapper. If you'd like to send me a short .cs sample, I'll be happy to forward to the .NET team. ericlaw@ microsoft

Harel Williams[MSFT] (Moderator):
Q: [38] Oh sorry! Other question: I'm not sure if this si happening in other browsers, but take a closer look: http://img392.imageshack.us/img392/47/acid2we3.png Go in this tab, press CTRL + A and go to the red like with you pressed mouse cursor up and down.
A: Yes this is supposed to occur. From the ACID 2 Guided Tour Page: "If the Acid2 page is scrolled, the scalp will stay fixed in place, becoming unstuck from the rest of the face, which will scroll." (http://www.webstandards.org/action/acid2/guide/)

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: is there any chance we might see Pipelining support with today's high speed broadband connections, as almost all HTTP 1.1 sites support it?
A: Pipelining is commonly misunderstood. All modern browsers properly support HTTP/1.1 connection reuse, including internet explorer. IE8 improves this further by raising the per-host limit from 2 to 6. Unfortunately, much networking hardware (particularly proxy servers) does not support pipelining, which is why it's off by default in FF and why Opera doesn't use it automatically. Pipelining actually can make things slower, because there's no way to know a priori whether a targeted resource would be delivered faster on a new socket.

Jane [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: IE Not Support Persian Language?
A: Beta1 does not support Persian, but beta2 will support many languages. We are finalizing the list of supported languages. IE8 Blog http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/ is a great place to find out if Persian will be supported for beta2.

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Thanks, I will send you an example C#
A: thanks.

Frank Olivier [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: [36] Before I forget to say: Would it be possible to add a Sidebar Gadget for Windows Vista which shows me the state of my running downloads? This would be really cool! Also great would be if I be able to control them like stopping, canceling or resuming.
A: That is a really cool feature request...this is something we have on our user wishlist.

Jatinder [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: If IE8 crashes can you send a error report to Microsoft?
A: In XP, a dialog asks you to send error report information to Microsoft when a crash occurs. In Vista, the same dialog appears when you first encounter a crash and there is an option to send or not send such data automatically in the future. If you opt into this option, this data is sent automatically in the background without a dialog showing.

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Why should users upgrade from IE7 to IE8?
A: It's a free upgrade, and it improves performance, security, standards support, and functionality. Seems like a no brainer! :-)

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: thanks eric, you definately have dramatically improved HTTP transaction speeds from site to site in IE 8... keep up the good work! Much faster than IE 7 :D
A: Great, thx.

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: IE Is Very Slow for Show Web Page! What solution do you think for this problem?
A: Often, slowness is caused by buggy add-ons. If you run IE in no addons mode (instructions here: www.enhanceie.com/ie/troubleshoot.asp#crash) do you see that it's faster?

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: The problem with IE 7.0 was if there is any crash on a third party component or plugin in any InternetExplorer tab affects to the entire Window and all Internet Explorer crashes. How did you solved this?
A: http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2008/03/11/ie8-and-loosely-coupled-ie-lcie.aspx and http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2008/07/28/ie8-and-reliability.aspx explain how we approached this problem in IE8.

PeteL [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Will IE8 Beta 2 be released in the next 7 days?
A: We've said IE8 Beta 2 will be released in August, though we haven't announced the specific date yet. Keep an eye out on the IE blog (http://blogs.msdn.com/ie) for more info!

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: How Change IE Keyboard Shotcut ?
A: Which shortcut are you referring to?

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Such as IE 8.1/8.2 or IE 8.5… so you can continue updates without another complete overhaul until you decide to move on to version 9 (for example, Firefox 3.1 alpha has already started adding more stuff)
A: At this point, we're still working on getting IE8 out the door; our plans after that point are not settled. We've got lots of great ideas for future releases. :-)

Matt Crowley [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: What Stop IE for Apple Mac?
A: IE only ships for Windows-based systems.

Kristen [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Will there be an IE8 Beta 3?
A: Right now we are focused on releasing Beta 2. The next milestone release for IE8 is not yet publicly announced. Keep a look out on the IE blog, too. :)

JohnHrv [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Make Shortcut for Save as Web Page?
A: no hotkey exists for this, but you can press ALT+P to open the 'page' menu and then press 'A' to execute 'save as'

Matt Crowley [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Will IE8 kick ass?
A: Yes.

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: How can we send you the captured dumps of the crashes in IE 8.0 in Windbg for your analysis? is there any special email?
A: Generally, you can just submit the automatic crash report to Microsoft. If you've found a particularly interesting scenario that reproduces in IE7/8 without addons, feel free to send me mail with a description. thanks!

Kristen [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Will IE 8 have a lot of new cool things that Firefox and Opera have?
A: We think it's going to be a great release!

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: What frist Recommended to user Use Safari, But afterwards Recommended Firefox?
A: I'm not certain what you're asking. I would recommend that you use Internet Explorer.

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: OnCompleted event has been fixed in IE 8.0?
A: What did you feel was broken about it?

Harel Williams[MSFT] (Moderator):
Q: I one more question, you all have been terrific! Thanks. My question/suggestion is one of the problems with IE is we always have to wait for a new major release 6/7/8... with standards evolving everyday... have you considered mild updates after IE 8
A: We are considering ways of showing incremental improvements/fixes to standards support after RTW. We do release out updates regularly, but it is difficult for us to push out behavioral layout changes in particular to everyone through Windows Update, because people become dependent on original behavior. Good suggestion/question though!

Kristen [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: I can print resumes, letters, etc., but for some reason envelopes won't print. I have printed envelopes for years so I know I'm doing it right. Do not have anybody who can come to my home to help. I'm not computer savy. Can anyone help me, please?
A: Please contact Micrsoft support for additional assistance with this issue: http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support&ws=support. This does not seem to be an IE related issue.

Frank Olivier [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Can we expect a redesigned 'Add to Favorites' dialog with support adding tags and ratings? It also would be great if there’s a search box in the favs where I can search my favs. Cool also would be if I can search whole sites from the browsing history!
A: We do a lot of user research on how users use bookmarks and favorites in their browsers; improving the user's ability to find their favorite sites (bookmarked or not) has been on our wishlist for a while... :)

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: I'd like to grab a week's vacation before Beta2 comes out. Starting today. Is that a good idea? ;)
A: Vacations are fun and should be encouraged-- You can always take IE on vacation with you! :-)

Matt Crowley [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: I Like help to you for Translation IE8 to Persian Language, I can?
A: If you'd like to help Microsoft out with translation services, feel free to visit microsoft.com/careers for information about job opportunities in this area!

Frank Olivier [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Will we get our "Reopen the actual tabs in next IE session" question-window before closing IE back :/? I'm missing this one!
A: Can I get a bit more detail on this one? Would you like IE to open up the same set of tabs next time you open it?

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Is ReadyState the best way to determine if a page can be successfully loaded for Web test Automation? is still in IE8.0?
A: Generally, I'd wait until the final, top-level DocumentCompete event fires. Checking the ReadyState should be essentially the equivalent.

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Can you add an option to copy more then one short cut clickable link at the same time?
A: Can you explain more about what you mean?

Harel Williams[MSFT] (Moderator):
Q: Can you improve the print experience in IE? I mean, for example I'm on a webpage with 10 sites (of printing pages). There I only want to pring out site 3, 5 and 7-10. I didn't found a solution so far...
A: It’s not clear to me what you mean by 10 sites on a web page. Can you clarify?

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Do you have improved documentation for OnClick events and DOM programming in general for IE 8.0?
A: I'm not sure I understand what documentation for "OnClick" you feel is lacking? Is there a specific question you have?

Jane [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Does that IETeam really listen to users’ feedback or are we wasting our time?
A: We definitely listen to our users. :) We have many feedback channels in place that we monitor: IEBlog, newsgroups, chats, public bug database, and usability studies. We also have automatic feedback channels like Watson reports that we get when users encounter crashes or hangs and SQM (Software Quality Metrics) that tracks the commands you use in the browser. We design our product based on the aggregation of all of this feedback. We really concentrate our efforts on reaching out to our users to learn more from them.

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: I mean that DOM programming for IE is poor, just for suggestion, you need to improve this :)
A: Without explanation of what you're looking for, it's difficult for me to point out specific improvements, or file requests for changes.

Harel Williams[MSFT] (Moderator):
Q: [89] If you are on a website, and klick at the print button, IE shows you in a preview how many sites will be printed out.
A: I am assuming by sites you mean pages? So if I understand you correctly, your request is to be able to print non-contiguous ranges of pages. Great suggestion! I'll forward it to our printing PM.

EricLaw [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Well lets say a web pages had 10 clickable links on it. If you highlight all 10 and right click and click "Copy Shortcut" only the first clickable link gets copied.
A: Ah, interesting. The issue is that copy-shortcut is actually the context menu for the one link, not all of them. You might like the "Linkify and Open" menu item from IEToys: http://www.enhanceie.com/ietoys/

Jane [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: Do IE8 and IE9 Install On Windows XP?
A: IE8 installs on XPSP2 and higher.

Harel Williams[MSFT] (Moderator):
Q: what other tools are good to start figuring out what is broken for IE8. I was turned on to http://browsershots.org/, is there a "lint" to figure this out?
A: We are hoping you won't run into that scenario much :) Are you talking about sites that don't render correctly?

Frank Olivier [MSFT] (Expert):
Q: [81] Uh... can you remember, in IE7, if you have multiple tabs open. When you close IE, IE ask you if you want that IE reopen the actual tabs in the next session. This functionality dissappeared from IE8...
A: Gotcha; yes, we changed this user experience in ie8b1; this is an issue that we received *a lot* of feedback about after we shipped ie8b1 :)

Daniel (Moderator):
