Not immune, ’SC bookstore sales begin to dive

USC officials are trying to determine how hard bookstore sales will be hit.

The current economic crisis has retailers all over the country worrying about sales and the Pertusati University Bookstore is no exception. The bookstore’s sales are currently down 3.5 percent for the fiscal year, compared to the same period last year, said Daniel Archer, director of the bookstore.

New DPS captain to focus on educating student body

Antonia Young will also be responsible for improving DPS’ crime prevention efforts.

The USC Department of Public Safety has hired Capt. Antonia Young to head crime prevention and community outreach — a key DPS position in light of the major crimes that occurred this semester. Young, a former New York State Trooper, will be responsible for analyzing crime information, improving DPS’ current crime prevention efforts and educating students on how to protect themselves.

DPS and LAPD team up to crack down on check fraud

When he graduated from USC three years ago with a degree in economics, Daniel Seddiqui wasn’t thinking about taking a job as a wedding coordinator in Las Vegas. But that’s his job — at least for this week. Since the beginning of September, Seddiqui has taken a new job in a new state each week, including working as a rodeo announcer in South Dakota, a corn farmer in Nebraska and a park service ranger in Wyoming, documenting his travels on the website livingthemap.

Groundbreaking set for Catholic center

New $33 million building will double the capacity of the current USC Catholic Center.

While most students will be studying for finals or packing their bags to go home, more than 400 alumni, parents, students and faculty members are expected to attend the Ground Blessing Mass and Ceremony at the site of the future Our Savior Parish and USC Caruso Catholic Center.
