Guess whose back…back again…Gibs is back…tell a friend. Ahh, I’ll leave the rhyming to Eminem. Boy is everyone here at SportsGamer lucky to get in on this scheme. This is a formation that I have been running from Day 1 this year in madden. Not only do I believe this is one of the top formations, in Madden 09, I believe it has one of the best plays in Madden 09. For this specific example I’m using the Detroit Lions playbook however, it can be found in many other playbooks. This formation allows for lots of creativity on offense with all the motioning that can be done. Let’s take a look.
PA X Clown
This play may just be one of the best plays in all of Madden. If you’re not using it, you have been missing out. By default it has a blue route that gets open against any defensive coverage, it has the single best crossing route in the game, and on top of all that it has the mean green 1 play TD machine deep post route. Let’s take a look at all the ways that I Sgibs7 like to run this play.
#1. Running the play as is might be the style for all you sim players out there. Not only will you still be able to run a monster of a play but you can have the piece of mind that it’s run the way it’s supposed to. For the rest of us, who like to make adjustments, take your HB and put him on a slant right and then smart route his route to the first down line. Now, motion the blue route to the left. Lastly, slide protect right. First look for the sideline out, because the X WR is on the LOS this Y route won’t get bumped as often. If it is there hit this man in the flats Adrian Peterson style (all day) with a lead pass to the left. If it is not there you will be rolling right and looking for the B crossing route over the middle. Check for the MLB depth if he’s in front of the B WR don’t throw it, if he’s behind the B WR we will go ahead and throw a LT high pass. By throwing with the LT we will get a RC animation without clicking on! The timing has to be right or we will just get a regular ordinary animation. Out next read we will be looking downfield to either our smart routed HB or the deep post route. Check the deep safety, because as you roll right your WR will get inside position for a big play, lots of times resulting in 6. Throw this ball with a lead pass up and to the right. I always find that the smart routed HB is a route that is always forgotten about by the defense. This play has a lot of traffic and causes a lot of confusion for the defense. Lots of times the HB will sneak to the corner not covered; if so hit him there for a big gain with lead pass to the right. Now for a really SNEAKY route your going to have the best bail out route in the game, its even bigger then the $700 million plan, the blue route motioned to the left is going to save you nearly every down. When all other options are shutdown, this route saves the day. When you roll right this route will first make a block on the weak side then he will cut over the middle right in front of the D-line un-touched. Throw a high bullet pass up for an easy 8-10 yard gain. This one route makes this play almost unstoppable.
#2. What I like to do is motion B WR to the left. This will create a great route to RC on the left sideline. Once the WR hits the sideline they will continue to run up field right on the sideline. We throw this ball with a LT high pass. We then click on down to the right for the RC. Our next option is the Y WR you can either place him on a curl route or a deep streak. I recommend a streak because this will help to get a 1v1 match up on the outside for a the RC. Next we have the HB who we are going to slant left. We now have flooded the left side of the field with a flat route a deep corner and a streak. We also still have the deep post Route that needs to be paid attention to and of course our Jesus route (the blue flat route). Head into practice mode right now and start lighting up the scoreboard!
Don’t forget you can RC the deep post as well. Simply smart route it, throw a high bullet pass using the LT and click on and press down to perform the RC. Throw the ball as soon as the WR takes is break up field.
