Short Bio
Because I am a woman in a male-dominated field, I am often asked the same question: Why sports? When I am at 9 p.m. tipoff with an 11:15 deadline, I sometimes ask myself that same question. But the answer is simple -- because it's fun. I started out at the Independent Florida Alligator covering intramurals and worked my way up to beat writer of UF's 2006-07 national championship men's basketball team. I took over the Tampa Tribune's beat writer position in January as a correspondent. I am a two-time recipient of the St. Petersburg Times scholarship. As for my immediate future, I will be the sports intern for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution this summer. I hope to continue writing for newspapers, and I think I would like to become a college professor someday.
