The results are briefly discussed. Due to space limitations, only a few maps presenting data on individual layers of contributions or threats are displayed here. Instead, this paper focuses on some of the more interesting intersections of contributions and threats in the Threats section below.

  • Contributions : Watersheds with the greatest percentages of private forest land are generally in New England, the Southeast, and the Pacific Northwest.
  • Threats : Development threats to private forest land area are concentrated in southern New England and the Southeast, although some are also found in the Pacific Northwest; wildfire threats to private forest land, are primarily in the Northeastern quadrant of the country.
