Results and Discussion

Authored By: L. R. Iverson, A. Prasad, J. Bossenbroek, D. Sydnor, M. W. Schwartz

This project is a work in progress and consequently results presented in Distribution of Ash and Mapping Estimated EAB Spread, 1998-2005 could change pending new data or analysis or both. Results reported in Modeling Spread in Ohio are very preliminary.

Subsections found in Results and Discussion
  • Distribution of Ash : Analysis of the distribution of ash at two scales showed two facts: there is a lot of ash available to the insect, and it is distributed throughout the Eastern United States.
  • Mapping Estimated EAB Spread, 1998-2005 : The map of estimated EAB front locations was required for two reasons: (1) to create a baseline from which our spread modeling will commence; and (2) to estimate the average historic rate of spread that will help calibrate the model.
  • Modeling Spread in Ohio : We present a modeling framework that considers both the insect- and the human-controlled dispersal mechanisms.
