33 L.P.R.A. §4333.  Enacted: 1974; Last updated: 1980

Summary: Anyone who maliciously sets fire to any sown field, grass, forest or growing or standing crop not belonging to him, with intent to destroy or damage it will be imprisoned for 6 years.  If aggravating circumstances exist, the period may be increased to 10 years.  If extenuating circumstances exist, the period may be reduced to 4 years.  Restitution may also be required.  If the damage is caused through negligence, the penalty will be a fine of up to $500, restitution or both
