No wing plane video takes off

A WEB video of a plane landing after a wing falls off has sparked fevered debate.

The single-engined aircraft spirals before the pilot gains control. But experts say it’s just computer trickery for an ad.

See amazing footage of pilot's emergency landing with one wing!

About the F15 incident: yes it's true, an F15 was able to fly and land with only one wing but the F15 fuselage is so wide that it can make it up for the missing wing (in fact not even the pilot or copilot realized it until they were landed).
I think is fake too but really well done!

i was involved in making the computer graphics

I have seen model aircraft loose a wing and land successfully. Also there is the much documented incident of an F15 eagle landing with one wing missing. Which goes to prove that if enough power is given, even a brick can be made to fly.

Can he do it again that was excellent maybe try losing the other wing to make it more interesting

Its a fake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Clearly fake, full of BS. "..a courting couple were killed as the broken wing landed directly on their soft topped car", Paul, provide some kind of proof to this claim as no wing can just fall off like that without any kind of explosion or fire or electric shock on the plane. It is an urban legend, a viral video, nothing more.
Physically, it is impossible. Visually, it is a SAD attempt, it does not look remotely real, and is clearly BAD CG.

Very sad - but a courting couple were killed as the broken wing landed directly on their soft topped car. They never saw it coming, the windows were steamed up. It must have been quite a shock.

I am a pilot and I can state that this is impossible.
The aircraft would not be able to do this.

Aerodynamicaly impossible.

Killathrill advertising all over this clip, they made several of these ads I believe, they are a German clothing company.

Oh my god, are you lot blind? IT STATES IT IS FAKE IN THE ARTICLE. For crying out loud.

It's a fake..If you look at the plane before wing falls off it has a red and white trim painted on the vertical stabilizer.. As the plane lands with one wing the white trim has disappeared. Two different aircraft or animations..

Hi guys,

I have seen this video. This is an excellent video and highly animated.

The plane is doing typical "odd attitude" approach and landing, typically seen by these type of high performance light aircraft, pitts specials etc. BUT, with both port and starboard wings attached. In order to keep the plane in the landing attitude shown, some lift would have to be produced by the starboard wing which is missing in this clip.......my verdict......it's been got at by the graphic manipulators.

Did Rick Ashley win?

me and my friend pol cant' decide if this is real or not... i think it is but pol is a professional filmmaker and he says there are obvious glaring errors... like when the plane lands it bounces like a plastic model would & also he thinks there is some CGI going on... im not sure.. id like to believe that it really happened.. anyone got any ideas..?

The things that makes me think this is fake are a couple of small features: firstly, the guy shouting "RUUUUN!!!" in an over the top fashion that just doesn't sound like a realistic reaction. Secondly, the video is full of shoddy camerawork yet at the crucial moment of landing the cameraman is able to keep the suddenly decelerating aircraft perfectly centred in the frame. But this is a moment when he'd be most likely to lose centring on the plane due to the sudden change of speed and direction. It all points to the dodgy camerawork in the rest of the video being deliberate.

you search Google with "plane lands with one wing" you will find a F15 that lands with one wing after a mid air collision.

If you look closely at the sport plane immediately after landing you can clearly see into the wing spar is visible rather than a wing tip. I would like to see the remaining portion as I would guess the gut who shot the video would take more of the plane after it landed. Oh well.

It is quite possible for this to be true. All is normal until the wing snaps off, the pilot's only chance of survival depends on quickness to go full throttle. This pulls the mass of the craft around the center of gravity, of the "new" aerodynamic", to counter the drag of the existing wing, and the loss of lift of the missing wing. Pilot finds some measure of control, and gets damn lucky to land safely, with a short rolling stop.

Nicely done for CG, but come on. There's no way the plane would be stable, due to the missing wing, torque of the engine, etc. Those planes are awesomely powerful for their weight, but they can't beat physics.

Fake as the day is long. The bit when the 'plane' lands is so easily detectable as fake. I agree, yawn!!!

That is SOOooo obviously CG'd...yawn...
