What do her supporters praise about her and her detractors oppose about her? I have a few pals who have dissed her quite alot especially with the "Muslim" Mona remarks, but im wondering, what do the average Swede think of her? What was she like years ago, less controversial figure right? Does she stand a great chance in 2010 or would that be a horrible change for Swedes to elect her as PM? |

Kev,
I diss her a lot too, don't have the time to elaborate right now, but have told the sambo that if she gets elected I will pi$$ off out of Sweden.
Mealy-mouthed, self-serving, tax-avoiding, t.v. licence/parking ticket/dagis non-payer, toblerone-eating, but not buying (at least not with her own money)..... All IMHO off course.
....and she likes, no adores Brucie Springsteen.
Göran Persson once said that "thinking is not one of Monas strong points".
I could (should) go on but I feel the need to go and lie down in a dark room now. |

Any Swedes can answer this, I'm curious too. I thought her only transgression was the use of a government credit card to buy a toblerone, is she a tax-avoider as well? Thought that was the various Alliance bods.
IMHO she will be the Prime Minister because she is leader of the Social Democrats who will form the next government. That's how it works in Sweden - a brief and rapidly regretted flirtation with the Right then back to Sossarna. Unless history is scheduled to stop repeating itself any time soon. |

"Confidence in prime minister Fredrik Reinfeldt continues to grow, a poll from Sifo and published by Aftonbladet, shows. 54 percent of voters state that they have high or very high confidence in the prime minister, a climb of 5 percent in comparison with a spring survey. Confidence in opposition lead Mona Sahlin has however declined, down 6 percent to 36 percent."
I'm holding my thumbs. |

From wikipedia
"In 1990 the newspaper Expressen reported that Sahlin had employed a nanny to take care of her children without paying the employment tax."
"In 1993 it was revealed that Sahlin had not paid her television license, which is a criminal offense in Sweden."
"In October 1995 the newspaper Expressen revealed that Sahlin, who was then serving as Deputy Prime Minister and was widely seen as the main candidate to succeed Ingvar Carlsson as Prime Minister, had cashed more than 50,000 Swedish kronor for private expenses on her working charge card, which was only for working expenses. She had also used the card to buy clothes, and to rent a private car . . . . During this controversy it was also revealed that Sahlin had many unpaid parking fines at the Swedish Enforcement Administration, and that she often had missed or been late in paying her children's kindergarten fees."
"In 2002 Sahlin's car was prohibited from being driven, yet received a number of parking tickets during this time. Sahlin has in fact received numerous parking tickets (98 in just one year) and many have gone to the Swedish Enforcement Authority. Eventually the government gave her a reserved parking space to solve the matter."
O.K. These 'indiscretions' are all a long time ago but they spanned a good few years. Can a leopard change it's spots? |

Pfft, they're all at it!
When I look at politicians, in any country, anarchism suddenly looks like a really attractive option. Mind you, I don't think I know any Swedes who do pay their TV licence. |

Wow. Just wow.
Do Swedes view this kind of statement as completely lame? |
