ivblogz.com was created to connect the community through information, news, and ideas. We hope you enjoy these blogs.
So, what is a blog? Basically, a blog is an online journal. Individuals post their thoughts about a specific subject or life in general.
Web site visitors are invited to comment.

Wedlocked

  Geek Corner

If your fingers itch for a video game controller or you're dazzled by comic book movie eye-candy, make the Geek Corner your first internet stop of each day.

Off Deadline

In his time "Off Deadline", IV Press Editor Brad Jennings muses about the state of the news business, happenings in the newsroom and other topics. Feel free to ask a question or suggest a topic.

  Idol Chatter

was totally jazzed for last night's premiere episode, which took place in Phoenix. But I only got through about an hour of it before realizing I no longer wanted to watch it. It was boring; the freaks weren't that freaky, the banter between the judges was worse and more plasticine than ever, and the good singers were not very good at all.
Still, I'll watch, and I'll watch all season long, giving you my opinion, colored by how I'm feeling at the time (or whether I've been drinking). Hey, hope springs eternal, and there's always tonight's episode.

Hot Shot

Photojournalist Todd Krainin learns
how to survive a desert summer in
the Imperial Valley with only a
camera, a 50mm f/1.4 lens, and a jug of water he bought for $1.75 at
Wal-Mart.

Reviews and Rants

It seems there are a number of reasons to blog. There are politicians who want to communicate directly with their supporters, activists who are passionate about getting the word out on issues they consider important, benevolent celebrities who kindly facilitate their minions' worship of them, and then there's me. I started blogging because I wanted to watch movies at the theater for a year...for free.

Desert Dining

Welcome to Desert Dining! We'll have a veritable hodgepodge of posts here from different folks affiliated with the Imperial Valley Press talkin about some good ol' fashioned vittles.

From The Stands

Ever since I can recall sports have been a part of our live's. Now I get to blog about it for a living, oh wait, we're not getting paid for this? Seriously, we're big sports fans. Some of the happiest moment's of our lives have been spent watching our favorite teams play.

The hidden art of the Valley

The goal of this blog is simple: to find art of all kinds in the Imperial Valley. I recently returned to the Imperial Valley from Los Angeles after graduating from UCLA to work at the Imperial Valley Press. While in Los Angeles I was exposed to a great deal of art, whether it be musicals, museums, or concerts, and that was part of what I loved about L.A. I could write an entire blog on what I didn't love, such as traffic, and parking, but I will save that for another day.

Tales of a Twenty-Something

I am a 22 year old almost-college graduate currently taking a break from school to make well-informed, practical decisions about my future, something that's made quite difficult thanks to my curiosity, indecisiveness, and occasional impracticality (I realize I may have just used impracticality in a way to mean my being is impractical, but just go with it). Anyway, my year-long vacation spot of choice is, absolutely not due to financial or familial reasons, the great Imperial Valley. By the end of the year, I hope to have successfully aligned the stars, navigated the law school application process, and, along the way, made myself a dearly beloved member of the IVblogz community.

College Life

My name's Alexandria, and I just started college at SDSU - IV Campus as a Liberal Studies major with an emphasis in English. I originally wanted to do Journalism at the main campus in San Diego...but I had a rough senior year and at age 17, I didn't think I was ready for life alone in a big city. Luckily, I scored an internship at the Imperial Valley Press to gain the education and experience that I'll need to fulfill my lifelong dream of becoming a reporter.

Tough Times

According to Staff Writer Eric Galvan's article, "Boom, bust, boom?" Imperial County ranked No. 12 in the state for the month of October in foreclosure sales per capita. Therefore we know there are those that have gone through a foreclosure within Imperial County. We just can't find them or get them to talk. But that is the best thing about this blog, you can tell us your stories and remain anonymous too. Although, if you are willing to talk to us on the record let us know in your post so that we can contact you. So, please tell us about your experience.
