Pull it over your head. Wrap it around your body. Or, just step into it. Take cover from the damaging sun, cool breezes and those prying eyes. It's fashion and function at it's casual best the swimsuit coverup.

Probably not at the top of the must-have list, the coverup is an afterthought. It is a garment to be worn over your bathing suit while going to and from the beach or pool. It can be an oversized shirt, roomy sweatshirt or a big T-shirt. But it can be stylish, too.

"I use my husband's blue oxford shirt as a coverup," says Hope Griffiths of Sarasota. "I love that color against my tan skin. However, when on a cruise, I wear a sarong over my suit it's dressier."
