David Croft is a commentator for BBC Radio 5 Live and he leads the station's Formula 1 commentary team which he joined at the start of the 2006 season.
A key member of the 5 Live reporting and presenting team, David has worked for the station for 10 years, during which time he has presented Sport on 5, covered the 2002 Football World Cup, 2004 Olympic Games, World Championship boxing and the 2007 Superbowl.
He has also reported on cricket, golf, darts and horse racing.
David was born in 1970. His career began in theatre publicity before he decided that sports broadcasting would be much more enjoyable.
From reporting for the local newspaper covering Stevenage Boro to a season commentating for WestCountry TV via the 1995 Toulon Under 20 Tournament (featuring David Beckham in an England shirt), David ended up at the BBC as a sports reporter at Three Counties Radio.
He became the station's sports editor a year and a half later before leaving to join Radio 5 Live in 1998.
David is also the voice of BBC television darts coverage having initially covered the event for 5 Live in 2002 and 2003, and he also presents a three-hour midweek sports show for BBC London 94.9 which allows him to indulge his lifetime support of West Ham.
