E3 2011Insomniac Games (makers of the Ratchet & Clank and Resistance franchises) are teamed up with EA to bring us Overstrike, a four-player co-op game with imaginative weaponry and a witty yet immersive story. Overstrike is Insomniac Games’ first multiplatform game – so far they’ve only developed for the Playstation 3 and PSP systems.

In Overstrike players take the helms of the Overstrike 9 team, a team of outcasts within their own anti-terrorist group in order to save the world from impending danger.

Overstrike is full of the notables seen in nearly all Insomniac Games’ releases, high tech and creative weaponry along with wiseacre comedic dialogue amongst memorable characters.  If it’s anything like their previous releases, this game of fighting terrorists worldwide should be a treat.

“And since this is our first multiplatform game, we’re especially excited to introduce ourselves to a new audience – one which may not have experienced our previous games” said Ted Price, founder and CEO of Insomniac Games.

EA and Insomniac Games’ collaborative effort, Overstrike will launch on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 consoles.  For more information on Insomniac Games’ and Overstrike visit: www.overstrikegame.com

E3 2011Earlier today at Ubisoft’s E3 press conference, the company announced that it will indeed bring back the Far Cry franchise for a third installment. According to Ubisoft,  players will:

“…step into the shoes of Jason Brody, a man alone at the edge of the world, stranded on a mysterious tropical island. In this savage paradise where lawlessness and violence are the only sure thing, players dictate how the story unfolds, from the battles they choose to fight to the allies or enemies they make along the way. As Jason Brody, players will slash, sneak, detonate and shoot their way across the island in a world that has lost all sense of right and wrong.”

It’s currently unclear how the storyline will be tied into any of the other games, although Ubisoft has said that it wants to improve on the “foundations of excellence inherent to the Far Cry brand.” I definitely enjoyed the first few games so I am certainly looking forward to this installment.

Far Cry 3 should be available for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and for Windows PC sometime in 2012.

New screenshot from Paris multiplayer Battlefield 3 map

Over the last few months EA and Digital Illusions haven’t been shy about admitting that Battlefield 3 will be directly aimed at dethroning the Call of Duty franchise from the top of the shooter genre. Earlier today, EA announced that Battlefield 3 will be released on October 25th of this year. This will put BF3′s release about a week and a half before the release of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. E3 2011

Also, EA has stated that the beta will be out around September of this year so if you bought Medal of Honor and didn’t think it was that great at least you can look forward to that.

Battlefield 3 will be available for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC. Make sure to check back here for any news that might be coming in from E3 2011! For more info visit ea.com/battlefield3.
