SECAUCUS, NJ: Red Bulls forward Juan Pablo Angel was named Honda Most Valuable Player of the 2007 MLS All-Star game Thursday night at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, CO. Angel's game-winning tally in the 36th minute helped propel the MLS All-Stars to a 2-0 victory over Scottish side Celtic FC.

His goal came after a brilliant pass from Dwayne DeRosario put Angel through in the left side of the box. With Celtic 'keeper Artur Boruc coming off his line, Angel collected the pass, took a touch to dribble around Boruc and hit a sliding left footed shot into the open net for the game's first goal.

The Honda MVP trophy is another individual honor for Angel, who joined the Red Bulls on April 17 as their second designated player. Angel captured MLS Player of the Month honors for May and June and was the top votegetter in this year's All-Star game. The 31-year-old Colombian international has tallied nine goals in 11 appearances for the Red Bulls, one off the pace in the league's Golden Boot race.

The Honda All-Star MVP trophy was voted on by members of the media and by fans online at www.mlsnet.com.
