Villains' Revenge (Disney Interactive, 1999)
Please read our copyright notice. Click here for a printer-friendly version of this walkthrough. Disney's Villains' Revenge is an all-ages game that incorporates elements of adventure, puzzle solving, and arcade. It was designed for ages 8 and up but can be enjoyed by all members of the family due to its three difficulty settings. The game features beautiful graphics, animated voice-overs by Jiminy Cricket, and beloved characters from Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Dumbo, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The game does not take long to complete and will be thoroughly enjoyed by the young, though adults will find some adventure elements that are satisfying. The arcade elements in this hybrid-type game, however, do not lend themselves well to the adult adventure gamer. Saving can only be completed by exiting to the main menu and exiting the game itself (not recommended) or by pressing Ctrl-S. There is unfortunately no load game mechanism except at the main menu. The game has a random function that allows for some replayability. One final thing worth mentioning is that the game adapts to your performance: if you fail a task, in many instances you try again but are given some assistance or more chances. Tip: Adults should choose the Hard setting. Toy Room You start off in a darkened room. Turn around to find the clown switch next to the door. Switch on the light. The voice of Jiminy Cricket tells you to find him. He is hidden between two books on the bookshelf. The bookshelf is above a book on a lectern and below a toy balloon. Approach this area, and Jiminy Cricket will reveal himself. Help him to open the large storybook on the lectern. Jiminy Cricket falls asleep while reading it, so he decides to tear out the happy endings! The four stories are Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Dumbo, Alice in Wonderland, and Peter Pan. When you are ready, click on the book. Suddenly a storm comes up and the Villains are free! The Blue Fairy arrives to tell you that the Villains are attempting to change the endings forever. Jiminy Cricket asks you to fix the endings. Out and In, talking doorknobs, appear on the book. Your first test is to find the characters from the stories hidden in the paneling of the door. They are hidden approximately in these areas:
Enter the storybook. Pick one of the cameos to enter a story. You can complete them in any order, and you can partially complete them also. Dumbo You are at the Circus. Dumbo can't fly anymore. Dumbo's mother raises you high in the Big Tent. You must set up a perpetual motion machine to allow Dumbo to escape. Click on the clown on top of the building to get an idea of what is required. These are the steps that are required to help Dumbo escape:
Click on the clown and the machine is underway, allowing Dumbo to fly away and restoring the happy ending. You will return to the Toy Room. Toy Room Choose your next story by turning the pages in the storybook. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs First, Jiminy Cricket is trapped in a briar bush. You must move the topmost branch one by one until he is free. Drag these branches off Jiminy Cricket:
Now, you can approach the Evil Queen's "Big Apple." Snow White is poisoned and in an eternal slumber. You need to summon Snow White's one true love to save her before the Evil Queen poisons all the dwarfs as well. Read her magic spell book to learn how to make the four potions. Then go to the spell ingredients on the shelf. The ingredients must be added to the cauldron. When all ingredients are in the cauldron, click on the cauldron to brew the potion. The potions will magically transport themselves to the potion bottles. You must create Blast of Wind, Thunderbolt, and Sleeping Death potions because the Evil Queen has run out of these. The potions need to be made in the following order.
When you create this potion, Snow White's true love arrives, and the happy ending is restored. (Interestingly, if you use Moonstock instead of Sunstock in the last potion, the prince from Cinderella arrives to try to fit the glass slipper on to Snow White. When he realizes it's the wrong woman, he leaves!). You return to the Toy Room. Toy Room Choose your next story. Peter Pan After a brief introduction, you are on Captain Hook's ship. Peter Pan is an old man! When he loses the sword, pick it up. You are now in a duel with Captain Hook. Note on the screen where the shield appears. You must move your mouse to this point to block Captain Hook. After you have blocked, try to get one or two swings at Captain Hook to maneuver him around to the space in the crow's nest. When he is at the space, continue to defend, but after defending, strike overhead once or twice to force him back. Eventually, you will force him over the edge. Next, Captain Hook's men climb and attack you. As Jiminy Cricket advises, defend against one and attack the other. When they are all dispatched, men start to swing down on ropes to attack you. Just defend against these men. When you have dealt with them all, you will be in another duel with Captain Hook. Continue along the same way: defend, then one or two overhead attacks to force him over the edge. Eventually, Captain Hook will lose his sword. Do not attack when he loses his sword. You must not attack an unarmed man. Instead, use your sword on his sword to give it back to him so the duel can continue. One more duel and he will be forced over the edge for good. He is forced into the water, and the happy ending is restored. You will return to the Toy Room. Toy Room Choose the final story. Alice in Wonderland Alice has lost her head. You must guide her body through the maze to reunite her body and her head. By listening at each pathway, you can determine (from the loudness of her voice) the path to take to reach her. Through the maze, you will need to deal with obstructions like smoke and alarm clocks by clicking on them. The choices have some degree of randomization, but this solution worked three times out of five:
You have united Alice's head and body. Now, you must follow the White Rabbit to get out of the maze. This is similar to before, except that you just need to go down the path that the White Rabbit takes. You are given a paintbrush to use to paint two or three of the Card Guards' roses to distract them. When you reach the entrance to the maze, the White Rabbit disappears through a tiny hole. Alice gives you something to eat, and you follow the White Rabbit, thereby restoring the happy ending. You return to the Toy Room. Toy Room You've reached the finale. Well done. Just wait a minute here! The happy ending pages have gone missing. The walls of the room come down, revealing that the Villains have stolen their endings. Now, you must defeat all four Villains by repelling the things they throw at you. You must destroy Captain Hook's masts, the Evil Queen's front door, the Ringmaster's Big Tent, and hit the Queen of Hearts. Once you have done all this (whew!), you are rewarded by being given access to numerous minigames on the disk. |
