This walkthrough only covers the steps important to finish the game and get enough clues to understand what happened in the Blackwood Manor. There are dozens of pictures on the walls and other little details scattered everywhere that are not mentioned and that you need to check out yourself if you want to get the fullest out of the game. You should use this walkthrough only if you are stuck. Playing using the walkthrough’s step-by-step will completely ruin the game.


Saturday, October 12th

You arrive at Blackwood Manor on Saturday morning.
You park your car and get out.

Walk forward towards the mansion
Use manor key on door
Open door to the reception area
Walk forward to the phone room and wait until the phone rings
Pick up the phone (it’s your friend Jerry)
Try the light switch by the door (no lights!)
Go to the living room (to the right as you enter the house)
Walk towards the fireplace and get a close-up of the coffee table
Read the diary
Open the door to the right to enter the study
Walk towards the desk and get a close-up of it
Read the diary
Open all the drawers on the left and grab everything: empty envelope, boring tool
Open the double doors to the dining room
Open drawer on small table and examine the tablecloths and napkins
Exit through the door that’s on the same wall with the little table
Look at the vases next to the staircase
Open the other door to the kitchen
Turn to your right and examine the key holder and the little table
Open the cabinet next to the sink, open both drawers and get the knife
Open the left of the two doors to the maid’s room
Get a close-up of the desk and get the sheet of paper
Exit the close-up of the desk and open the drawer
Get the pencil and click on the photo that is in the notebook
Examine the photo and put it back
Looking at everything else around this room and the bathroom makes it obvious that the maid was passionate about photography
Walk back to those vases that you looked at near the staircase
Open the curtain and then examine the vases
Get the (rusty golden) key from the vase
(Note: The key appears only after you have examined that photo from the maid’s desk drawer. It is obvious that there was a key on the key holder and a vase on the little table under it. Now that the key and the vase are not there anymore, the key might have fallen into the vase, and that vase is the one next to the staircase. Michael had no reason to examine it thoroughly before discovering that clue. A great puzzle indeed!)
Go up the stairs to the second floor
Disregard Michael’s comments about a nice room prepared for him for now
Open the door to the left to enter the main bathroom
Open the bottom middle drawer under the sink and get the rag
Leave the bathroom and enter the double doors in the hallway to the gallery
Look around examining everything, not missing the letter and the lion’s claw
Exit the double doors and enter the door across to the master bedroom
Look at the tall mirror in the far back corner (there’s a painting showing)
Examine that painting closely and click on the woman’s hands (a safe!)
Try opening the safe (no luck)
Exit the master bedroom and enter the only door left to the guest bedroom
Walk to the little table at the corner
Put the suitcase on it and open it
Read the letter and the notebook, examine the card and the book and get the pen and the matches
Open all desk drawers and examine the papers
Put the typewriter case on the desk and open it
Get the papers and the typewriter out of the case and the close and remove the case from the desk
Read the typed paper
Look in the wastebasket and read the letter
Walk to the fireplace and open the doctor’s bag
Get the stethoscope and look a the papers
Leave the bedroom and go downstairs and call Jerry
Call Barbara once
At this point you can call Barbara a few more times if you want to see Michael being a boss!
In your inventory, use the pencil on the sheet of paper to reveal a letter in Italian
Call Barbara again
In your inventory, put the letter in Italian in the envelope and use the pen on the envelope
Head outside and to the front gates (just missed him!)
Open the mailbox and read the note
Put the envelope to Barbara in and close the mailbox
Go back in the house and call Jerry
Walk to the kitchen and use the rusty golden key on the right of the two doors
Go down the stairs to the basement
Open the fuse box, look at the fuses and mess with the switches (seem to be fine)
Go and call Jerry again
Candles? There has been no sight of candles so far. But there’s one more floor to explore, so head upstairs to the 3rd floor
Open the door to the right
Get a close-up of the bricks and get the small metal rod
Exit through the door on the left
Get a close-up of the little stove and use the small metal rod on it
Exit through the other door, turn right and walk around the wooden staircase
Try opening the door (it appears the key is left in the keyhole on the other side)
Get the newspaper from the floor to the left of the door
Put the newspaper under the door and use the boring tool on the keyhole
Pull the newspaper from under the door (HA!)
Go up the wooden staircase to the attic
Look at the pile of newspapers and try getting one (need a specific date)
Open the chest to the right and get the lamp
There are two different piles of papers in the chest. Make sure you examine them all carefully
Well, we checked everywhere possible on the 3rd floor and still no candles
Let’s call Jerry again (he suggests to go buy some candles)
Go outside and get in the car
Open the glove compartment and get the car key
Put the key in the ignition and turn it (typical…)
Go back inside and call Jerry
Call Jerry once more. You get two dialog options
Ask about the previous inhabitants
Call Jerry again and you’ll automatically ask about the safe
Go to the attic and check the newspapers (select the only option – May 1963)
Ok, we’re done for the day, let’s get some rest
Go to the guest bedroom and get in bed

A banging noise wakes you up
There’s only one direction that you can walk so follow the arrow to the gallery
Oooh, look at that! A secret door!
Walk towards it and look at the hammer
Try getting the hammer

Was that a dream?
You get up again and hear scratching noises coming from somewhere in the house
Walk to the fireplace and get a close-up
Use the stethoscope on the fireplace wall
Go downstairs to the living room and get a close-up of that fireplace
Use the stethoscope on the fireplace wall
You need to check out the basement, but it would be too dark and the lamp has no oil
So let’s go back to sleep


Sunday, October 13th

Like The Pixies would eloquently put it: “It is time for stormy weather”

Go downstairs to the phone room and wait for the phone to ring
Pick it up
Jerry gives you the safe combination (no need to write it down)
Go to the master bedroom and open the safe
Read the paper and write down the phone number that you see at the bottom
Get the (generic blue) key
Go to the 3rd floor and the door that had the key behind the keyhole
Use the generic blue key to unlock the door
Walk towards the table
Get the hammer from the stool that on the left of the table
Get a close-up of the table
Around the middle of the table there’s a can lid and a (generic silver) key. Get them
Examine the blueprints. You can examine all rooms of the manor, but pay close attention to the room next to the master bedroom on the second floor. It’s a room that you never saw a door for. Examine that part of the blueprints twice
Open the other door
Go up the ladder and look at the rope
Use the knife to cut it (it falls on the floor)
Go further up the ladder
Get the oiler
Use the rag on the tall can on the left
Use the boring tool to make a hole in the can and then use the lamp on it
Go down the ladder and get the rope from the floor (you need to walk one step away from the ladder then turn around and look down)
Exit the room through the other door
Go to the 2nd floor and look twice at the wall next to the master bedroom door, where the room you saw in the blueprints should be
Use the knife on the wall
Examine the wall twice
Go all the way up the winding staircase
Use the hammer on the crack on the wall
Tie the rope to the lamp above the crack
Pick the rope up off the floor to put it through the crack
Open the window at the bottom of the winding staircase and get a close-up
There’s a little piece of rope on the upper right corner. Click it to pull it down
Go out the window, disregarding Michael who is giving you a hard time
Climb down all the way and enter through the window
This is the secret room that was on the blueprints!
Look at the cubes on the floor and in the cart to the right
Open the top drawer and read the birth certificate (the child’s name is not legible)
Look at the bricked door
Exit from the window, up the rope and go to the attic
Look at the newspapers and read August 1961
Head to the gallery
Remember the door from the dream?
Walk to the display case and get a close-up at the bottom of it
Look at the panel and use the knife on it to pry it off
Use the oiler on both wheels
Now pull the display case out to reveal the secret door
Use the hammer on the door to remove to boards
Open the door to enter the secret room
Darkness!
In your inventory, use a match to light the lamp and then use the lit lamp on the darkness

Examine the mask
Turn to the right and move the bamboo sticks that are covering the window
Turn to the left and read the papers (2 different piles)
Exit the secret room and go call Jerry
Time for Michael to do some work!
Go to the guest bedroom and get a close-up of the typewriter
Put some paper in the typewriter and after Michael is done, read what he wrote
Now all this rope climbing, wall bashing, secret room unveiling and, on top of that, working on his book has left Michael pretty pooped. Time to hit the sack

You wake up again cause “something didn’t feel right”
Go to the gallery and enter the secret room (Uh-oh)
Turn around and leave the room

Another dream?
The scratching noises are heard around the house again, but this time we have a lamp that works
So head to the basement
Once inside, in your inventory use a match on the lamp and then use the lamp on the darkness
Go down the stairs, open the furnace door and go inside
Crawl forward until your reach a cell window
Now that wasn’t a dream, was it?
Turn around and crawl your way out of the furnace
Go back to the room and go to sleep (now how could Michael sleep after all that?)


Monday, October 14th

Leave the bedroom and go downstairs
The house is incredibly cold so go to the fireplace in the living room and get a close-up
Use a match on the wood in the fireplace
Got to call Jerry and tell him about last night
After calling Jerry, time to call James’ bank
Remember the phone number you found on the piece of paper in the safe?
Go to the phone room and save your game
Pick up the phone, select to dial another number and dial that number
During the conversation make the following choices:
- James Blackwood
- Dr. Milton
- Recent activities
At this point you can load before calling the bank and choose different dialog paths, if you want to listen to everything, but the above path is the one that gives you important clues about the story
Time to finally check out the other buildings
Go out the front door and walk towards the car. On your left you will see a small building (garage), which is locked
Use the generic silver key to unlock the padlock and open the door
Walk towards the workbench and grab the crowbar that’s rest on its right side
Get a close-up of the workbench and then a close-up of the toolbox
Get the screwdriver and the pliers from the toolbox
Exit the garage and go back to the house and upstairs to the master bedroom
Get a close-up of the small mirror that is on the little table
Use the screwdriver on the mirror to get it
Go to the basement and look at the valve on the back wall
Use the crowbar on the valve and then use the hammer on it
Get the crowbar back
Go upstairs to the kitchen and exit through the back door
Walk forward until you get to the crypt
Use the pliers on the wire that is keeping the door closed (you got the wire)
In your inventory, use the wire on the mirror
Open the door to enter the crypt
Walk towards the coffins and get a close-up of the plaques at the bottom
Read the plaques and get the stone
Leave the close-up and open and examine both coffins (hmmmmm!)
Walk towards the door, turn around to face the coffins and look up at the dome windows
Throw the stone at the windows (useless!)
Go downstairs and pick up the stone from the corner in front of the stairs
Go back up and throw the stone at the dome windows again (finally!)
Turn around and look at the candleholder to the right of the door
Use the mirror on the candleholder
Go downstairs and examine the little coffin and the plaque under it
From that you get the letter ‘R’
Remember those cubes in the child’s room that spelled ‘BIN’?
May R + BIN would spell the child’s name
ROBIN!
Now those cubes had numbers corresponding to each letter
Go back to the child’s room and find the numbers that correspond to the letters ‘R’, ‘O’, ‘B’, ‘I’, ‘N’ (because I’m a good hearted person, I’ll save you the trip and the rope climbing and give you the number: 59097)
Time to give Jerry a call and tell him about our new discoveries
After speaking to him, go to the attic and look at the newspapers
Read June 1963 and write down Bailey’s phone number
Go downstairs and give Bailey a call
Time to check the mail, so go outside and read the letter that’s in the mailbox (very interesting)
Go to the maid’s room
Look under her nightstand
Open the secret compartment and look at the photo
Notice the tower shadow?
Leave the house and go to the greenhouse
To get there, follow the path on the right of the fountain as you exit the house
Use oiler on the greenhouse door and open it
You’ll notice something shining in the drain, but you can’t get it out
Go upstairs and walk forward once and turn around
Put one end of the hose in the soil where the shovel is and throw the other end down over the railing
Do around the railing and look at the table
Open the right drawer and get the shears
Open the left drawer and read the letter
Use the shears on the plant that’s on the table
Go downstairs and get a close-up of the tap that’s under the tree
Put the hose in the tap and turn the water on
Go upstairs and get the shovel
Go back downstairs and remove the hose from the tap (leave the water on)
That shiny object that was in the drain will get flushed in a couple of seconds making a jingling noise
Get a close-up of the big pot that has fallen over the drain (it’s right across the stairs)
Use the shears on it to clear a path in the drain
Wait a couple of seconds until you hear the jingling noise again, meaning that the shiny object is being flushed again (if for any reason you do not have sound, waiting 5 seconds will be enough)
Exit the greenhouse and walk two screens forward
Turn to the right and you’ll see another path
Follow that path to a small pool of water and a dead tree
Get a close-up of the water and pick up the small key (it’s the shiny object from the greenhouse that got flushed all the way to that point)
Go back to the house and head to the study
Get a close-up of the desk and use the small key on the right drawer
Open the drawer and read the letter
Pick up the box and get a close-up of the combination dials
Enter the number you got from the cubes in the child’s room
Open the box
There is a little piece of wood in the middle that can be turned left or right
Set the piece of wood like this: \
Press the button on the left
Set the piece of wood like this: /
Press the button on the right
Remove the false bottom
Get the (heavily adorned) key
Go to the path that leads to the greenhouse but go right where it meets with the other path to get to the chapel
Use the heavily adorned key on the chapel door and open it
Go up the spiral staircase and open the small cabinet
Open the small drawer and get the Holy Bible
Open the Bible and keep turning the pages until you see a big nail
Get the nail
Go downstairs and stand behind and to the right or the left of the altar and look down at the floor in the middle behind the altar
Use the crowbar on the ring
Go behind the altar and put the nail on the feet of the wooden statue of Christ
Use the crowbar to straighten the INRI sign at the top of the cross
Go down the secret passage
Darkness!
Turn to your right and you’ll see a candle
Use a match to light it
Get a close-up of the desk
Pick up the weird branch
Read the letters (one letter to Christopher and a small diary)
Leave the chapel, go to the house and call Jerry
Go out the front door (who could that be?)
Check the mailbox and read the new letter (now that was unexpected!)
Open the hood of the car in the back and get the battery
Go to the garage and get a close-up of the bicycle
Put the battery on the crate and connect its cables to the back wheel
Now start pedaling!
Get the newly charged batter and put it back in the hood of the car
Get in the car and turn the ignition key
Michael is now having second thoughts!
Exit the car and go to where the paths to the greenhouse and the chapel meet
Walk one screen towards the chapel and look to the left
Notice the tower shadow on the ground? Remember that photo in the secret compartment in the maid’s room?
Click the shovel on the ground where the top of the shadow is pointing
You should reveal a corpse. If you didn’t, you didn’t click the shovel on the right place, so try again
Examine the corpse and then do what everyone would do in such a situation:
Get your pliers and pull that rotten tooth out!
Go back to the house and head to the gallery
Get a close-up of the bust with the lion’s claw necklace
Use the pliers on the lion’s claw
Go to the kitchen and get a close-up of the coffee grinder
Open the top, put the tooth in, close the top and grind
Open the little drawer and get the ground tooth
Do exactly the same with the lion’s claw
In the inventory, combine the ground tooth and the ground lion’s claw and then combine that mixture with the leaves of the African plant
Go to the 3rd floor and to the room where the little stove is
Get a close-up of the little stove
Put the can lid on it and then the mixture on the lid
Use a match to light the stove
Get the green stone
Combine the green stone with the branch to create an amulet
Now you’re fully ready for a fight against evil!
Go to the secret room in the gallery
Use the amulet on the mask

You did it! You exorcised the evil out of the manor!
Time to go home
Leave the gallery and head to the front door

BAM BAM BAAAM!
The scratching noises again!

Go to the fireplace in the living room and get a close-up
The wood is now burned revealing a grate
Remove the grate and go inside

Unlock the cell door and open it
First thing, look at the hole right across the door
Then look around everywhere in the cell
Do not miss the teddy bear, the raw meat, the bones and the water-dripping pipe
After you have thoroughly examined everything look at the hole again

If you have paid close attention to everything and read all texts carefully, then you have now solved the Blackwood Manor mystery!
