(3/19/03, 7 a.m. ET) -- Linkin Park taped an episode of MTV2's 2$Bill Concert Series on Monday (March 17) at the State Theatre in Detroit. The show will air at 9 p.m. ET on Tuesday (March 25), the same day the group's new album, Meteora, comes out. The episode will be repeated on MTV the following week.
In front of a crowd of about 2,500--including 850 fan-club members--Linkin Park ripped through 16 songs in an hour, including seven from Meteora. With frontmen Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington continually telling the Detroit crowd how great it was, Linkin Park opened with a trio of Meteora tracks--"Don't Stay," the single "Somewhere I Belong," and " Lying From You"--before settling into older favorites such as "Points Of Authority" and "Runaway." The group also ran through hits such as "Crawling" and "Papercut," and it reprised "Don't Stay" at the end of the show "just to make sure we got it really tight" for the cameras, according to Shinoda.
In addition to the concert, the crowd also received commemorative posters and bottled water as it left the venue.
Linkin Park next plays on Thursday (March 20) at the Bronco Bowl in Dallas.
The full setlist for the 2$Bill Concert Series show included: "Don't Stay," "Somewhere I Belong," "Lying From You," "Papercut," "Points Of Authority," "Runaway," "Faint," "From The Inside," "Hit The Floor," "With You," "Crawling," and "In The End," with the encores "Easier To Run," "The Place For My Head," "One Step Closer," and "Don't Stay" (reprise).
