We've
redesigned Boeing.com to give you faster
loading pages, easier-to-use
navigation, and more accessible pages to make your visit
as informative, interesting and convenient as possible. To
use our new features, you must be using a modern, standards-compliant
Internet browser.
What does this mean?
The
browser you are using to view web sites appears to be out-of-date.
It may be able to access Web sites, but it is unable
to display upgraded, improved, open
web standards sites such as Boeing.com.
How can I get new browser software?
Upgrading
your old browser is easy, fast, and free.(Please note this is third party software and is not created by Boeing.)
Here's 3 simple steps:
- Click
one of the icons on the right to download the browser
of your choice and operating system to your desktop.
- Double-click the browser installer icon to install it.
- To
begin using your new browser, just click the icon for
your newly downloaded browser.
You're
now on your way to faster, standards compliant browsing.
Why
are we doing this?
Boeing
is committed to serving the entire public, and
that means striving to ensure that all pages of our site
are accessible to
the greatest possible number of people and devices (including
screen readers, Braille readers, and other specialized browsing
environments). Because they follow
strict rules and avoid non–standard markup, well–authored
XHTML (Extensible Hyper Text Markup Language) pages are
more accessible than older
HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) pages, helping
The Boeing Company comply with U.S. laws and accessibility guidelines.
The
web is moving to XML, a powerfully
enabling technology. Utilizing XML (Extensible Markup Language)
allows us to deliver, very quickly, well–formed,
XHTML (Extensible Hyper
Text Markup Language) web pages.
XHTML brings uniformity and more logical markup
to document structure. This is critical for large organizations
such as ours, whose web pages must interface with logically–marked–up
documents in legacy systems and databases.
We
have reorganized some of the site's content
to create a more user-friendly environment. Also, unlike
old–style
HTML pages built using tables to display presentation,
we've used structured XHTML and
simple CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) to
create visually appealing navigation and pages that are easy
to edit and update. By eliminating images and JavaScript from
the menus we save you precious downloading time.
Thanks for visiting, and we hope you enjoy the new Boeing.com
web site!
