DX10 has geo shaders unlike DX9 so it naturally looks better. So you might not want to upgrade to Vista, but I'm just telling you Vista has great graphical advantages. The DX9 hunter had no real time fire light, it wasn't moving at all. DX10 did, and DX10 had smoother edges. Also, on DX10 when the Hunter screamed it moved the smoke towards us. DX9 barely had smoke, and DX9 lacks soft particles.
Bullshit!
Compared Very High quality in XP and Vista - no difference.
To make Crysis work at Very High settings in XP do the following:
1. In folder BIN find two files, CryRenderD3D9.dll and CryRenderD3D10.dll
2. Switch their names
3. Then create a shortcut to the file Crysis.exe
4. Go to the shortcut's properties and add -DX10 (write without quotes) at the end of the target line
5. Or, if paragraph 4 failed, then write DX10\r
6. Also possible option without space, it all depends on the version

I just did a test to see if this was true. Without using any tweaks or mods I ran this part of the game in Directx 10 with Very High settings and after the scene ran it again in Directx 9 with High settings.
The amount of smoke is exactly the same in both, possibly even more in 9, and the smoke moves with the Hunters roar in both 9 and 10.
Obviously directx 10 will look better compared to 9 even if both are just running in regular High settings, but all of the more visible differences in this video will be the same.

These guys are just made their shitty computers can't run the boot disc, since they aren't even in the reconmended and get a BSOD Everytime they try to boot in Vista. Face the facts your computers old. You're also gonna have to face the fact on how Vista CACHES RAM. There's a huge difference between cached and being used, with chached RAM you can load things way faster.
So keep whining guys, stop telling people your made up facts about Vista. By the way, you can always wait for Windows 7, which introduces DX11, but Vista will in fact get DX11 in SP2.
You gotta suck it up, at least you aren't buying a new $2000 MAC that has pretty much the same parts as the PC, which sells for $500.

Dude when i get my new computer i am defiantly getting this game, its kickass. Since u guys are talking computer parts, should a 9800 GTX be able to handle this game at high to max settings at 1440 X 900 res, if not what settings can expect to see good performance.?
