New NAPL Marketing Awards Sponsored by Xerox

-- Graphic Arts Online, 12/15/2008 9:02:00 AM

PARAMUS, N.J., December 12, 2008 — NAPL, the National Association for Printing Leadership (www.napl.org) is announcing a call for entries for the new Marketing Awards, a competition to recognize the increasing importance of marketing in the commercial printing industry.

The deadline for entries is February 1, 2009. The award allows entries in each of ten categories ranging from best Digital Marketing to Environmental Marketing and Market Research/Customer Feedback Programs. Up to three entries are free to NAPL and NAQP members and Xerox Premier Partner customers. Additional entries may be submitted for a nominal fee of $50 per entry per member. Nonmembers may also enter multiple categories at $75 per entry. Winners will receive their awards during a special luncheon at the 2009 NAPL Top Management Conference in Tucson, Arizona, on Tuesday, March 17, 2009. The marketing awards program is sponsored through the generosity of Xerox.

“It’s crucial for print providers – large and small – to be marketers and have an up-to-date marketing plan to help their customers succeed and grow their business,” said Tom Wetjen, vice president, Worldwide Graphic Communications Industry, Xerox Corporation. “Xerox has been a leader in educating the industry on the importance of marketing and these awards will be a great way for the industry to share best practices.”

The NAPL Marketing Awards were created to promote the value of marketing as a key business competency in the printing industry. In an era of new media, print buyers and economic challenges, marketing is more important than ever, according to NAPL. Winners will serve as industry role models or “brand champions” for peers who are aspiring to incorporate, or amplify, the marketing function in their business plan. The award will also differentiate the winners from others in the marketplace. NAPL will provide marketing and public relations support to help companies highlight their recognition with customers and prospects.

“Printers are recognizing the value of marketing not only in building a printing/graphics business, but in positioning themselves as marketing service providers,” said Joseph P. Truncale, president and chief executive officer, NAPL. “This award underscores the progress we have made in marketing, and the increasing emphasis we are placing on its value in overall business growth.”

Entrants will compete for Gold, Silver, Bronze and Honorable Mention awards by category and when applicable by annual sales. All work must have been completed during the 2008 calendar year for the 2009 awards. To be considered, participants must submit an entry form for each entry to NAPL.

The Marketing Awards are designed to be annual, and are part of the NAPL tradition of bringing the best practices to the business of print. NAPL currently awards a series of honors which recognize key business competencies, including the Management Plus Award for management excellence and the RAVE Award for excellence in customer service.
