Chicago Reader J.R. Jones
Rosenthal observes all the ritual elements -- a veteran of the series, he seems to understand that its fans crave certainty over shock.

TV Guide Maitland McDonagh
Director Rick Rosenthal ("Halloween II") seems to have forgotten everything he ever knew about generating suspense, relying on cliched shadows and grainy, handheld images supposedly shot by the increasingly terrified students.

New Times (L.A.) Gregory Weinkauf
Thing is, movie's 100 percent mystery-free, but mildly creative, mixing Psych 101 with cynical Hollywood in-jokes with Tylenol-sponsored grainy-cam footage. Best revelation is source of Myers' superhuman strength: eats big rats, apparently.
38
The Globe and Mail (Toronto) Jennie Punter
It's all very pat and, ultimately, annoying.

New York Daily News Elizabeth Weitzman
If you only want a sequence of slashings, impalements and head-squishings, you'll get your money's worth. But if you like a little movie with your mayhem, you're out of luck.

Chicago Tribune Loren King
Like its parade of predecessors, this Halloween is a gory slash-fest. It can't escape its past, and it doesn't want to.

Los Angeles Times Kevin Crust
It's not the worst film in the series -- "Halloween III" will never be unseated -- but there's not nearly enough scares, or humor, to make Halloween: Resurrection worthwhile.

LA Weekly Paul Malcolm
If, as it appears, Rosenthal is competing with the knife-wielding Myers for the title of biggest hack, he wins by unanimous decision.

It seems content to plod listlessly through the motions.

There's no evidence of craftsmanship or energy. Everything, from the plot to the execution, is plodding and obligatory.

Spectators will indeed sit open-mouthed before the screen, not screaming but yawning.

Film Threat David Grove
After almost twenty five years, the Halloween series has been reduced to a false alarm. ...the characters are so devoid of human feeling they accomplish the task of making us not wish they were dead, but just gone.

Variety Joe Leydon
More uselessly redundant and shamelessly money-grubbing than most third-rate horror sequels.

Forget this dreck: Where's that Michael vs. Jason grudge match we've been hearing about for the last decade?

New York Post Lou Lumenick
It's so devoid of joy and energy it makes even "Jason X" - a recent attempt to prolong the rival "Friday the 13th" slasher franchise - look positively Shakesperean by comparison.

ben gave it a0:
Horrible. one of the worst movies i have ever seen. i am a huge Halloween fan and this is unacceptable.

Darryl B. gave it a10:
This Movie is SCARY!

Kevin gave it a0:
Just like the lame as Jason x movie. They have to make a lame ass situation. Also I hate when they put fucking stupid B even low as a C celebrities into any films. Busta Ryhmes was lame and I’m glad he isn’t famous for his acting, Just enough the only good new horror film that involves classic slasher horror characters may have been Freddy vs. Jason if they didn't have most of the lame ass acting of a few.

Joseph gave it an8:
this is probably one of the more creative ones and the internet cameras give a good, scary effect. Busta Ryhmes also brought some humor to it.

jacob a. gave it a10:
This movie rules.

eddie gave it a3:
Should've stopped at two , or at least take the time to write a good script, and some worth while actors, it couldve been good if done right,kung-fu what the hell, anyone who ''knows the history'' better be packin, the plot was as bad as all the other horror sequals, friday the 13, nightmare on elmstreet, should just call it sesame street , and childs play, ive seen more scarey crap on romper room, lets not even get into jaws, hellraiser and god forbid scream.ive written better on the toilet , and i still have a life..... anyway the beginning of the movie was really good, they shouldve ended it when he gave crazy boy the knife.

Christina H. gave it a6:
This movie is in between. It is mor gruesome, but not as scary as the others. The suspence wasn't anywhere to be found and nothing seemed real. They should leave the same character for micheal myers in every movie. All in all it was pretty good. Hopefull the next one will be REALLY scary and full of suspence and just being the movie and fulfilling the plot.
