Inside The Locker Room: Buzz About Browns

This is the ritual: An afternoon practice is over. The players come off the field, go into the locker room, shower, get changed and go into their final meetings of a long day. Cornerback Sheldon Brown is one of the last ones to leave, as he is a great, stand-up guy who offers his honest, forthright perspective. I needed that perspective on Thursday afternoon, and Brown delivered.

See, we all live in a world on the outside where we look ahead and we anticipate what is next. The locker room is not like that. Not at all. The NFL is a world of here and now. Players move station to station. They understand that what is here right in front of them right now might not necessarily be there for them tomorrow.

This moment, of course, is one of great excitement and confidence. The Eagles, left for dead by many after that embarrassing 36-7 loss in Baltimore three weeks ago, are resurgent with two straight wins. They are brimming with life after the beating they gave the Giants on Sunday. Cleveland is coming to town on Monday night. The fans are into it in a big way.

Are the players focused on the big picture here? Is there a dramatic difference in the vibe inside the locker room?

Brown is a good person to ask, because he has stood and answered the questions every day for weeks and weeks and weeks. And many of those questions have been negative. Now, in this positive moment, how much has changed?

"I think, and this is my opinion, from the media's standpoint, it's their job to be more on the negative side with what we have done," said Brown. "From a player's standpoint and from a leader's standpoint, it's our job to focus more on the positive things that we are all about. What we have done in the last two weeks, the two wins, that's nothing. We expected to be on top in the first place. That is the only focus we can have. What can we do better in the next game?

"It's a no-brainer about where we are right now, that we have life. We should have never been in the position we were in before. I've said that all along, that we lost games that were hard to accept. You accept it because it happened, but they were hard to digest at the time. In this business, you learn to move on very quickly or you get left behind."

The tone in an NFL locker room is relentlessly positive, save for those few moments after a tough loss. Men don't reach this level by dwelling on what could have been. They don't play the what-if game. Results are measured in black and white. There are few grey areas.

One of the strengths of Andy Reid's Eagles teams has been the way the players embrace the culture. Fingers are never pointed. In-house squabbles stay where they belong.

To chronicle the 180-degree direction this season has taken is to be very matter of fact. The romantic idea that a moment changed the fortunes of a team, or that a single team meeting or that something happened to point the Eagles on the right path really isn't a theme in the locker room.

I tried. I really tried with Brown. I wanted him to tell me something about an epiphany he had witnessed somewhere between that ugly loss in Baltimore and the virtuoso performance against the Cardinals.

He wasn't having any of it.

"I have always trusted the guy next to me, even when we were losing games and I have never seen anybody here point a finger," said Brown. "Everybody was trying to make a big deal when Coach did what he did in Baltimore and made some changes. That was no big deal to me. He wanted to give us a spark, it didn't work, and then he went back to the spark we all know.

"The bottom line is, we all played better. We all played better. That's what has been the biggest difference. We have all played better."

Now the Eagles are on the hot-and-getting-hotter run that marked their 2006 NFC East title season. They have beaten Arizona and the Giants and have a tough path ahead starting with Cleveland. Brown won't look back, but he admits how horribly he felt after the games against Cincinnati and Baltimore.

"I felt sick after the Cincinnati game, really sick. Win, lose, tie ... they say to expect the unexpected and that was certainly unexpected," said Brown. "Then against the Ravens, to lose the way we lost, being a defensive player ... that was probably the low point of my career here.

"But these guys stuck together, fought together and believed in each other. Now we are here."

The Eagles can't afford any slip-ups if they hope to be part of the NFC playoffs. They need to win all three games and get some help and, well, you know the scenarios already. No sense rehashing. If the players aren't going to look beyond Monday night, I'm not going to look beyond Monday night.

All I know is that the Eagles are in a far better place then they were a few weeks ago. They have a chance. They have momentum, even if they grudgingly admit as much.

"I've never been a guy who believes in momentum," said Brown. "I take it play by play, day by day. What we did on Sunday against the Giants, the way we played, that isn't going to help us on Monday night."

Kene) I knew you were a younger fan and I asked because of your recent post. You were in North Philly between Sears and the IRS, if my memory serves me right. It's been awhile. I left Philly for good, in the 80's although my mom lived there till 5 years ago, moving from the residence I was raised in. She's in Hollywood Fla. now! Interesting to me to see the mix of relationship points and origen, to the Eagles...

You see how desparate Clevelands playing? Stallworth was fined for unnecessary roughness for spearing Titans defensive back Michael Griffin with his helmet after Griffin intercepted a pass. Garcia Article: GARCIA QUESTIONABLE FOR FALCONS GAME Posted by Mike Florio on December 12, 2008, 1:58 p.m. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have listed quarterback Jeff Garcia as questionable for Sunday’s game at Atlanta, according to our friends at Pewter Report. Garcia was limited in practice on Friday; Luke McCown and Brian Griese shared the first-team reps. Coach Jon Gruden said that there’s still a chance that Garcia will play. Clearly, the Bucs need him. With the Falcons at 8-5 and the Bucs at 9-4, the loser will have every reason to be very nervous about the chances of making it to the postseason.

Was awakenED, 2AM, to the, "Cracking Sound," of LARGE TREES AND LIMBS FALLING. I live amongst a forest of old pine and oak trees. Beautiful, when the weathers right! As for Demps, again I agree! If space permitting and he doesn't voluntarily retire, "Like to se Dawk as a situational player," during the "Safety Position, Transition Period," again roster space permitting, but I have my doubts!!! I'll leave that discussion till after the season's end...

Giants 3 headed monster became two! They can still power the ball and alternate, "I see no problem," with their rushing game. Rumor on "PFT," yesterday, before the power went out, reported the possibility of Garcia not starting against the Falcons. Not the best news, for us, if it's true. Need him for that Falcon Loss!

That ice storm, here in the NE, certainly rained on my parade. Cooked in the dark, with the minimal light, of the woodstove, using it's heat to make a good corn & clam chowder. Power was out 18 hrs. When it came back on, the cable when down, so now I'm using this lousy "Dial-up," to get on the computer, slowwww-ohhh! Got to agree with you Brizer relative Considine. He always gives everything he has and was doing a "fairly good job," until he got his "shoulders ripped out," due to injuries. I don't think he should go back to starting, but on Special Teams, "He's the Ball's." Periodic play, will keep him in the game until his desire, determination, deminish, or he sustains, more "Physical Injuries."

Over the past few seasons...when did the Bears get to the SB?....I have come to appreciate ST even more. Consi has been wonderful for us, him as well as Demps, seems to get there on time. Now his play as safety is another matter. The guy seems to whiff each time he is in there. Besides, I think Demps should rightly be ahead of him.

8:24 am
Hey Bri and JB, I kind of disagree in theory only. As far as the yards, Giants will still get their yrds with Ward and Bradshaw, but they miss the fear aspect with Jacobs out. The guy can and is usually stopped eventually, but he delivers as much as he receives. (blows so to speak). That kind of thing wears down the LB`s and DB`s who eventually get tired of tackling him. With a normal sized back, you just get in there and play, with a big LB (Jacobs), well, punishing at best.

Consi speaks,..the ST leader in pts with 298,..loves his role but hasn't given up his quest to start,.feels being unjustly criticized by the fans,.cuz they don't get some of the coverage schemes,...but he says he's a team guy,.no complaints...101% no matter what he does!...now,..you knuckleheads want to give him his pink slip and keep who?...consi stays,.ST MVP in my book,..kidding or not...perk up.

I'm with you Bri. I'm not gonna say I wouldn't want Jacobs starting if I were a nyg fan. But it's not that big a loss. You might see some long runs from those other 2 RB's they have. But regardless... they have plenty of good RB's. Plenty. With Jacobs... or without.

Obviously my heart is for Dallas to lose, my head tells me it will be a close game. A couple of things here, Giants haven`t clinched home field thr`out yet. They still have Dallas, Panthers and Vikings.....could conceivably lose all the games, so I think they give it their all tamale. Selfishly, if Dallas does lose, Falcons lose, Skins lose and of course we win, then our last game may not even be impt.

JB, I think the fact that Plax is out gives the boys the confidence to stack the box, pretty much like we did. Problem though is the personnel is different, they have guys hurting. Something else is that the Gmen O line is much better than the Steelers. On the other hand, the Gmen D line should have some success over the Dallas O line. The TO complaints will just hopefully help us.

Lewis))) Uhhhh yep. Shel Brown plays his best when he's on the line in the WR's grill. He's at his best with his back to the ball. And he plays the flats well. No doubt about it. Those are his strong points. So... what in Gods Green Earth tells somebody that makes a good FS? I have no idea. What you can knock on Shel Browns play is.... his open field tackling(member Mo Morris last year at The Linc leavin Brown in his dust?) and his deep Zone coverage and range. Samuel would make a better FS than Brown imo. And thats asinine as well. === YOU NEVER TAKE A GREAT CB AND MOVE HIM TO S. Unless... that CB can't cover anymore. A la Rod Woodson. I'd say... Shel Brown covers as good as anybody right now. Not sure I'd trade him for any other CB in our division. Outside of the one we already got. === That said about Browns open field tackling.... if he gets you lined up and you don't have the time to do something about that. Your DOOMED!!!

fyer, i can see what you mean about the corner thing. Samuel will be getting better in this defence as time goes on. Lito.... he's been a dissapointment as of recently. Sheldon is still good for a while. Don't forget we got that Ikegwuonu guy. Sure his name is a mouthful but he was supposed to be a high round pick if he didn't get hurt. He'll be around next year and we gotta hope he become something pretty good. Also, as i have said before, Sean Smith from Utah. He's tall, has decent speed, and great hands to add on. As far as discussions go, I think the WJ gist is impt as it will impact how we approach the draft viz a viz our present OT`s..Tra and Jon. Someone was wondering why he hasn`t found a place on the line yet...easy answer, 1. he was initially projected as a LT, won`t go into that, 2. RT..presently, Big Jon will beat out more than half the RT`s in the league, 3..if S Andrews is moving to RT, he has no chance. Now he can compete with Herreman....my vote will be Herreman or he can compete with whoever for RT if Runyan is not resigned and is S Andrews remains at guard. That alignment may actually be good as Andrews can help out.

I worded that a little harshly. I didn't mean Justice WON'T ever improve, but just don't believe he has the potential other players have. Like You said, his will to improve needs to be there. He also just needs the natural talent and the smarts to become a top lineman. Does he have that? Not sure, none of us are, only the ones who work with him know what hes truely capable of. Like I said, I hope he improves. I get ahead of myself at times but You get my points.
chrisejlewis@...
12/12/08
3:21 pm
Fyer is correct. With 'will', there also has to exist 'talent' in order for someone to succeed. WJ obviously displayed enough of it to warrant the Eagles selecting him 39th overall. The jury is still out but let's hope he pans out...

chris; A lineman making major mistakes, means he sucks. A line is only as strong as its weakest link. Quarterbacks having a bad day relies on other people than himself. In other words, if the line sucks that day, the QBs chances of doing well slims. If the recievers suck that day, the QB sucks regardless. If no running game is established, it hurts the QB. And it ALL comes down to the line.

Everyone who is saying Justice must be good, because of when Reid decided to draft him.. remember this... There are many, many, flops in the NFL. Many people in college have a supporting cast that allows them to have a hyped rep, that they will never complete at the pro level. Justice is one of them. Also think about this.. how many starters in the NFL were NOT 1st-2nd round picks. Many starters werent even drafted. Justice still has a chance to prove himself, but thus far has been a major letdown.

Hey look guys, I am not stating that #74 is our best lineman. I am just saying that we haven't seen enough of the kid (at the RT spot) to say he's a wasted draft pick. Hopefully he has some talent and makes our team stronger. If tripleD is correct though and WJ has no fight in him, then that would probably spell his demise. However, none of us have seen enough of him yet to say that. We're all just speculating at this point. Anyway, let's agree to disagree on WJ and move onto another topic....

I don't but that argument, dmg. Sometimes players sit longer than a year or two and STILL become quality starters. Case in point: Quintin Mikell. He wasn't able to beat out anyone before him on the depth chart until this year. Now look at him.

re: Giants game > not arguing with you there, Brizer. He had a very bad game. However, one bad game does not equal a career. Doug, here is the lowdown on Justice. Not only has he been less than impressive when he has played but there have also been rumblings about his desire (heart). If he was worthy of a second round pick he would be higher up on the depth chart by now. When Andrews came in he started as a rookie and was a probowler by year 2. Jamal Jackson was on the practice squad for a year and then became a starter. This will be two years for Justice with virtually no playing time. Obviously the coaches aren't seeing much in him. Brizer, maybe with your new found IQ level you will be able to correspond with Alvacado better. Begin to understand his point of view if you know what I mean. Then once your IQ rebounds please explain it to me if you could.

Fanatic, I will try to answer that Demps starting quest with a few musings.....last yr the Giants had Johnson and another safety as rookies, Aron Ross, as CB; Kenny Philips this yr at safety. We traded our our 2nd rd pick to Vikings, they got a safety, I think Johnson who has started a few games. They say it is hard as a rookie to learn JJ defensive scheme, I say it is hog wash. I say a good football player is a good football player who gets better with hard work which in itself involves both studying the play book, plays and gaining exp from being on the field. There abound several rookie safeties who have started presently, my answer fanatic is yes...I can start Demps as a FS. Then again, if we have a chance to get a can`t misss safety in 1st 2 rds, I will do it.

Had a decent game against Bills (not huge competition), but we have not really seen him, he hasn`t really had another chance/opportunity. You can argue that he hasn`t earned another one, but he is a high draft pick at a position that can conceivably play for a dozen yrs. It all depends on who is available when we get up there with CARs pick. If Andre Smith and Alex Mack are available to us, You wouldn't want both of them? Of course that won't happen, but everyone should know the importance of a topnotch Oline. Every offensive play starts at the line. Reid obviously knows this, and tried for a lineman with his 1st pick last year, ended up with CARs 1st pick this year. We will grab a lineman 1st.

I'm all about seeing him do well. Hasn't shown that he can though, but after a couple years working under trainers and coaches, he might be fine. I think it'll more likely be Herrimans and Justice fighting for LT though, but You could be right if Winston puts on some weight.

100% agree with Ken. We need to address ONE spot on the line with our 1st pick. If You do some research, You'll find that there are plenty of good RBs and WRs later in the draft. We need to address C(or OG/OT depending on who moves around), TE, and S with our early picks.

PhillyFan > who are you asking about - Shawn or Winston? Shawn is more than capable at playing anywhere on the line, with the possible exception of LT. I think however you were referring to Justice. Yes, I think the kid could do well at RT. He needs reps at the position. If however the team is looking at Andrews at the RT spot for 2009, Justice will have a difficult time beating him out. I have a hard team believing that Andy would give up on #74. He drafted him high and obviously thought a lot of him to do so. I also doubt that Andy will let him just sit on the bench for the next 2 years. My guess is that Winston competes as the starting RT in 2009 training camp. I believe he will be given all the opportunities to succeed. Let's see what he's got...

Chris and WW, my point is that if we feel like the O line needs an upgrade, then we should address that position with one of our 1st rd picks as there is a ot of top end talent in the draft and somewhat of a drop off further down the rounds.

Damn! I completely forgot about Winston Justice. He'd be the backup at RT. I know most of you Eagles fans don't like the kid and think he's horrible BUT in my opinion, we truly haven't seen enough of him to say that. Sure, he had a bad game against the Giants last year but the entire O line did as well. That was not an indication to me of what Winston is capable of. He seems much more comfortable at RT than LT so perhaps he gets a long look at 2009 camp (if Runyan is gone).
PhillyEaglesFanatic@...

1:28 pm
When I said the only way we ought to draft a reciever in the first and second rounds, was if the rest of our needs were all gone. I doubted that. We DO need a S no matter what. We need a TE because I hope we don't pay LJ another 4 mil a year to stay. We need an upgrade to C. Our future at the line might be good as long as we snag a C, because of.. LT-Herrimans/LG-McGlynn/C-Mack?/RG-Cole/RT-Andrews. From there we eval our weakness(if any) on the line and upgrade in 2010. Our more dire needs appear to be C,TE,RB,WR,S not in a specific order.
chrisejlewis@...
12/12/08
1:25 pm
There's been a lot of talk with regards to upgrading the OL. Our two book-end tackles are free agents after the season is through so it all depends on what the Eagles plan on doing with them (if anything). My guess is that Tra is free to sign elsewhere. Perhaps the Eagles look at signing Jon to a short deal (1 or 2 years) for stability at RT? If they let him go, I feel that Shawn Andrews will move to RT. That would leave MJG to play RG. Jamal will stay at C in this scenario (unless the team decides to draft a C, although Nick Cole is a more than capable back-up). I feel more than comfortable with Todd at LT (with King Dunlap as his backup) and Mike McGlynn at LG (with Mike Gibson as a backup at both guard spots). Depth at RT would be a concern and I am sure that the Eagles will draft a few OL as they usually do. Not sure if they would decide on a high round draft pick or wait for a lower round selection to address the needs on the offensive line. That remains to be seen and truly depends on what happens to the roster between now and April.

Fanatic, plenty needs from your last post, but nay many options to fill them. Harvin is good, but we already have Djack, don`t wanna cause any ulcers, but let`s recap...are we all saying that there is 1..no hope for Justice, 2. King Dunlap..3.McGlyn, 4. Gibson, assuming S Andrews comes back, then MJG and Cole/Jackson become b/u. The point I am trying to make is that al these college guys have to match up agains what we already have, of course true talent/quality always rises to the top.
PhillyEaglesFanatic@...

WW; Andrews has never played the left side of the pivot. Wouldn't be a gaurentee there. At RT he might be great, but on the weak side defenses tend to place the quick ends. Andrews might not handle the speed freaks as well.

Disagree again. Won't be that hard to pass up. We don't need a full roster of 5-11 starters at WR. Need a Flanker, and a Split-wide out there. DJ is our blazing starter. Now we need the Baller. If we use a 1st round pick on Harvin, I'll be upset, unless of course all the great S,C,TE,OG/OTs are taken. Doubt that will be the case, so I hope we don't use a 1st rounder on a reciever. If Harvin is available at round two I might change my view. Snag him in that case, because Harvin IS the next Steve Smith. 5-11 198 lbs running a low 4.3, tough to pass up at round 2. DJ will be improved next season, we might snag a reciever via FA or trade, so I'm not seeing 1-3 picks going towards recievers other than TE.

Id rather see them trade for Andre Johnson or tj or another great attitude big name receiver. we need to solidify the lb core our rbs r ok but getting a power runner would be an upgrade. other than that maybe a te or s depending on if dawkins retires what happens wit lj lito etc

As for needing to upgrade LT, I agree to disagree. Herrimans should be 50% more effective at LT than at LG. We need a C or LG. Actualy, I don't even know that we are in dire need of a LG, because first year man McGlynn has gotten exactly NO reps in, and he's hyped to be good. C is our route. If Andrews doesn't get back in time to show what he can do at either RG or RT, we might be in more dire need of a RT over LT. If we go guard, we need Robinson of Herman-stein. If we go C we don't actualy need Mack. Luigs, McNeil(If he declares), and Caldwell are all beasts at C as well, and could be picked up with our 3rd pick(2nd round). We need improvements at TE, WR, RB, C, L/R-G/T, S, and CB.

....Ringo, Brizer said not to grab the Harvin guy. And I like Harvin alot but he is short as hell, and there are some 6-3 thru 6-6!! recievers late in the draft. If anything, I say we wait until then to snag a reciever, and possibly pick up TJ Housh via FA. Harvin is great, but is 5-11 (with a 198lbs, 4.33 40 upside though) and we need a acro-bat not a another short rat.

With Brown's future in doubt do the Eagles use a first or second rounder on a WR? I believe so and this looks like a real good year for WR's. Of course I like Crabtree but I don't think it would be worth trading up to get him. They need to use one of those first rounders on an OT and this looks like a good crop of OT's coming out too. I'd be happy with Iglesius, Williams, Massaquoya, Harvin, guy from Buffalo or several others who should be there in the late first, second and third rounds. The draftniks think the Eagles are interested in a TE, particularly Pettigrew from OK State. I like that pick as well. A power runner is also on my wishlist. I think we are pretty much set on defense so I'd like too see next years draft focused on offense.

Your father came out of the same neighborhood as me. I went to Good Shepherd School (grammar school) 66th Chester Ave. MBS was our biggest opponent in football. I knew many guys/gals from MBS. MBS was the best in the city. How old is your dad? I didn't have Sister Agnes, but she sounds like Sister Mary Judith who I had in 4th grade. Can`t focus on the Browns game, but a few things should be pointed out Ringo, Browns still have Shaun Rogers, and what`s his name from Green Bay, the DT ( you know that guy along with IRed Cullen Jenkins is why the Packers won`t be in the playoffs). I don`t know how easy it is to run on that team, unless away from Rogers. One thing is clear though, If we don`t turn over the ball, it is hard to see Browns winning the game.

As far the Ota trade...well, I think so far so good for both teams. Damn the panthers, they could have just had a 500 record to mkae us feel better. It depends on who you think we got with the pick...Djack or Laws. I suppose it does not matter, Djack is as impt to us as Ota is to them if not more. Laws will be a good b/u , fantastic in the rotation. We still get to have an extra 1st rder next year. At some stage, I was thinking package both for Crabtree, where Eagles and Panthers are heading, it may be hard to do if not entirely sensible. At this time of the yr, everything is so damn fluid.

Asante Samuel over the next three games will prove that he is a big game performer, and will be all around the football. The Eagles will put eight men in the box against the Browns, using the same approach that they were so successful with against the Giants, and force Dorsey to beat them. The Eagles ability to stop the run will determine the outcome of their season, and they will be up to the task. Jason-Los Angeles

After listening to Terence Newman on ESPN, Dallas may not win another game. Hey guys, good to be back. I`ve got to disagree with JB and Chukky on that Brees "rant". I agree that Brees should look a little more upset, frustrated or even angry with the loss and possible end of playoffs. But at the end of the day, this is still a game, albeit one that is passionate with even more involved fans. Having said that, Brees and Orton are preety good friends, both Purdue grads (highly regarded in the Lafayette area). If my memory serves me right, Brees was instrumental to recruiting Orton. I do think that Brees could have said his end of game hellos differently. The one part that absolutely disagree with is drawing Brees wife in to it, quite unfair and unnecessary. BTW, JB, pretty good answer to the nephews, not sure what I would have said in that situ.

Dallas Cowboys = NY Yankees. Both teams operate on the philosophy that you just bring in talent and that alone will win championships. That philosophy has been proven to be wrong again and again. Look at the last time the Yankees won the World Series. They did it mostly with home grown farm team products and low budget free agents....Derek Jeter, Joe Giradi, Rivera, Brosius, Bernie Williams, Tino Martinez, Andy Pettitte, Paul O'Neill....As soon as they turned away from that and started to sign the Giambi's, Mussina's, and A-Rods they lost. When you are at the major league level in all of these sports the differnce in talent level among the atheletes is no longer what it was at lower levels and that is why team chemistry trumps everything else. It's head scratching to see some of these guys running teams still don't get that. When was the last time anyone bought a championship? A U.S. Senate seat yes, but a championship no.

Thanks for the sage advice oh "Dali Lama of the Draft." All good points (or should I say pints?). Only thing is I was never a lover of the darker beers and never took a shine to any of them (tried Sam Adams, Guinness etc). More of a fan of the lighter brews and ales as noted by my devotion to all of the Canadian brews in my youth. Our softball team drinks LaBatt Blue (cooler full at every game) so I still quaff some of those in the summer. Also I'll sample the brews when we hit any of the local microbrewery bars. I'm not a total slave to the light brews but they are the usual choice.

He,drinking it for the very reason that you stated. It was time to leave,.I finished my one pint and he washed down the last lousy spit of his brew with a grimace. After further review,.the verdict was obvious. I drank one pint of a beer I thoroughly enjoyed,it cost me 3 bucks, and it had surprisingly few calories and alc. content. He "needed" to drink 3,..it cost him 6 bucks, and all totaled, many more calories with similar alc%. It was an epiphany!,..Brilliant!!!! Needless to say,..he no longer drinks light beers, still works out,.and may be joining me tonite for the virgin tour...DMG,..perk up!..Besides,.there may be added healthy jewels in those complex beers,..anti-oxidants, nutrients, vitamins,..just drink h20 between beers to remain hydrated.

Just think... you can get better OT prospects than Otah in the late 1st round. And you can also get 1 of the best G's to come out in a few years... or the best C since Mangold. === LOADED!!! That was a steal.

I am so worried about this game coming up. The eagles haven't played good in the spotlight for almost 2 years now. I can't even remember the last monday night game we won. We have to jump on the Brown's early to make them give up. They know that there offense can't put up many points, so if we put up some points early they will give up.

So... it looks like... Our Boy... Keanu Reeves found another role he can play well. Good for Our Boy. === Speakin of Movie Stars. Saw 2 films here recently. 'Iron Man' and 'Tropic Thunder.' Both starring My Boy... Rob Downey Jr. === Iron Man is directed by Jon Favreau. His 1st if I'm correct. I remember him.... as not doing much really. Decent actor. But that film was pretty good. The 1st hour was pretty cool. I don't know... just sayin. It's nothing fantastic but I thought it was as good as any of the other comic book films. But RDjr was just fantastic. Really a great actor in my eyes and a funny guy. === Tropic Thunder is done by Ben Stiller. Everyone knows him. Funny guy. The movie is decent. Pretty damn funny. Not written as well as I thought an Ethan Cole helped script would've been. A lil jumpy. And Jack Black is hilarious as drugged out actor. But once again... even with Tom Cruise playin an unforgettable role... RDjr took it again as an Australian actor that takes his role so seriously... he gets his skin darkened to play a Black man. If he doesn't win an Oscar... travesty is the only word that comes to mind. Best acting performance since Eli Wallach player 'Tuco' the bandito of 'The Good the Bad The Ugly.' === Robert Downey is just plain great. One of my Favs of all time. But by far the best story about RDjr is.... the time he got busted in a hotel room with coke-N-tute and a Wonder Woman outfit. HE!!! WAS WEARING THE WONDER WOMAN OUTFIT!!! Thats My Boy!

Brees should be benched!!!....Anyway,..let me reiterate some "changes" for the week as I'm seeing some posters with similar views. This is the appropriate time to "welcome",.encourage, reggie brown back into the fold,..at least for this game...while Curtis rehabs,..people,.concussions worry me more than just about any other injury and more time should be given for recovery,..they have ruined careers,.health,etc,..just not right....Sit Buck another game and use Eckel and Booker to replace,.this is the game to do it, if feasible...need Buck healthy for following two games.....Get Lito more playing time,.again if feasible,..asante is dinged and can use the rest a play here or there,..or just use HansOn more. The 4th thing,..I forgot,..need more coffee....and 3D,..yea, Agnes was a wench,..the sordid definition...I was one of only a few hundred that stayed O/N "protecting" my home with the help of friends and evil humours. You know.... I sit here and think sometimes... since we are so loaded... that we should try and package something including our 2 1st rounders for Oher or Smith. But time after time... So... I'm at my sisters house. Leaning on the fence and lookin across to the neighbors yard. I'm with my nephews. They are 8 and 3 years old. I kinda look down and they are leaning on the fence lookin across... just like me. How cute? But I'm used to it. Everybody wants to be me. Then... I look back up and there are 2 dogs humpin in the neighbors yard. And as soon as I see them.... the 8 year old says "Uncle. What are those dogs doing?" Now... I didn't wanna lay the heavy on them... so I just said... "Well buddy, that one on the back hurt his foot. And thats his buddy up in font. He's helpin him get home." Then the 8 year old nods and leans back on the fence. Then the 3 year old.... who had never looked up said.... "Aint that just like a friend? Try to help'em out and they f*** you everytime."

Just my opinion, but maybe Reid needs to play a heavy dose of Eckel and Booker against Cleveland, and limit Westbrook if we can open up a fast lead, to keep him healthy. We are going to need a heavy dose of Westbrook for Washington and especially Dallas for the final two games. Two weeks ago, I was thinking about next season, now I have a good feeling if we finish strong and win out, I believe the Eagles have just as good a chance as anyone to go to the Superbowl and WIN.

Better for da' bears to win to keep Minnesota on the offensive, it is most likely that only the division winner will go to the playoffs in this division. Atlanta is our biggest problem, because Dallas will definitely lose 1 more if not all 3 of their next games. We just got to concentrate, and produce exactly like the last two games. What I loved against the Giants was the quick adjustments after the first quarter.

Here's some tidbits from the article on espn.com about T.O's potential meltdown. It seems like there's a little bit of questionable stuff between some of the guys on this team... As the preseason Super Bowl favorites struggle in the final month of the season to simply make the playoffs, wide receiver Terrell Owens has expressed resentment toward Tony Romo, apparently jealous of the quarterback's relationship with tight end Jason Witten. Owens feels that Romo and Witten -- close friends and road roommates who came to Dallas in the same offseason -- hold private meetings…without including Owens One teammate suggested Romo is frustrated enough that he might initiate a different approach. The latest controversy comes toward the end of a season that began with Owens saying in training camp that he shared a relationship with Romo that he never had with other quarterbacks with whom he played. "I guess sometimes I've just been in situations where the quarterbacks felt like I was bigger than them,'' Owens said in July. "And, you know, that was never the case. Romo seemed equally at peace with Owens. "The thing about it is there's a genuine caring about each other.
