Don Smolenski
Don Smolenski
Senior VP/Chief Financial Officer

Serving as the club's senior vice president/chief financial officer, Don Smolenski is a valuable member of the Eagles front office. In his role, Smolenski works closely with team president Joe Banner and senior vice president of business operations Mark Donovan in developing and implementing initiatives and strategies throughout the organization. He also plays a major part in instituting policies and procedures for all employees.

Known for his effective, easy-going style, Smolenski oversees all aspects of the facility operation teams at Lincoln Financial Field and the NovaCare Complex, the organization's financial operations (including stadium financing, debt management, budgeting, and financial reporting), human resources, information services, insurance, and team travel.

""With his broad range of thinking, Don has helped to develop ways of melding the business facets of the Eagles organization with the football,"" said Banner.

With that macro view of the entire organization in mind, Smolenski successfully led a collaborative effort in the opening of Lincoln Financial Field in 2003. He continues to lead the organization's efforts to maintain a first class venue with a priority on quality customer service.

Smolenski is also very involved in leading the team's environmental initiatives. Through its Go Green! program, the Eagles have emerged as a leader in environmental stewardship. The team has actively integrated environmental responsibility into all of its day-to-day operations through the implementation of recycling programs, usage of renewable energy sources, and numerous efforts to reduce its carbon footprint. Some of the specific initiatives include the addition of solar panels at the team's practice facility to convert energy from sunlight into electricity and the creation of the Eagles Forest at Neshaminy State Park in Bensalem, PA. In addition, the Eagles became the first organization to reimburse employees who purchased 300kwh of wind energy in their homes.

He also currently serves as secretary on the board of the Sports Complex Special Services District, a non-profit entity charged with improving the quality of life for the neighborhoods surrounding the stadium. He is also involved with Leadership Philadelphia, a non-profit organization that promotes leadership and community involvement in the city of Philadelphia.

Smolenski joined the Eagles in 1998 as the club's vice president/chief financial officer and was promoted to his current post two years later.

Smolenski came to the Eagles from the International Hockey League where he was the chief financial officer. During his tenure, he oversaw all league financial issues and played an integral role in the expansion of the league. Through the development of expansion models and the analysis of league performance models, Smolenski saw the league expand from 12 to 19 teams. He also spearheaded the development of a salary cap and several other cost management programs as well as interfaced with each of the team finance directors.

Prior to his term with the IHL, Smolenski worked as a public accountant with Arthur Andersen.

An avid runner, Smolenski has completed the Detroit, Pittsburgh and Boston Marathons. After graduating with a BA in biology from Amherst College, he continued on to earn his masters in accounting from the University of Hartford. Don and his wife, Karen, have two sons, Jake and Shane.
