Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008
New Orleans Saints at Chicago Bears
21Saints QB Drew Brees faces a Bears defense that produced decent pressure, which led to three sacks and limited Jaguars QB David Garrard to just 178 passing yards. Bears RB Matt Forte will test a Saints defense that allowed Falcons RB Michael Turner to rush for 41 yards after just one quarter.
Result: Chicago Bears 27, New Orleans Saints 24
20
Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008
Seattle Seahawks at St. Louis Rams
23Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck will have tests on his back to determine if he can play this week. If Hasselbeck is unable to play, Seneca Wallace will face a Rams defense that allowed Cardinals QB Kurt Warner to pass for 277 yards in the first half. Rams QB Marc Bulger could struggle against a Seahawks defense that has played much better because the pass rush has improved in recent weeks.
Result: Seattle Seahawks 23, St. Louis Rams 20
19
Buffalo Bills at NY Jets
23Last week, Bills QB Trent Edwards was sidelined by a strained groin, which gave J.P. Losman his first start since November of 2007. Losman could start against a Jets defense that allowed 49ers QB Shaun Hill to find wide-open receivers and throw for 285 yards with two touchdowns. Jets QB Brett Favre faces a Bills defense that struggled to put pressure on Dolphins QB Chad Pennington, which allowed him to complete 23 of 29 passes for 181 yards with a touchdown.
Result: NY Jets 31, Buffalo Bills 27
19
San Francisco 49ers at Miami Dolphins
2449ers RB Frank Gore injured his left ankle last week and is listed as questionable this week against a Dolphins defense that held Bills RB Marshawn Lynch to 31 yards on 13 carries. Dolphins QB Chad Pennington will test a 49ers defense that sacked Jets QB Brett Favre three times and kept him in check with a season-low 137 yards passing.
Result: Miami Dolphins 14, San Francisco 49ers 9
17
San Diego Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs
24Chargers QB Philip Rivers could have success against a Chiefs defense that struggled against the Broncos and allowed QB Jay Cutler to complete 32 of 40 passes for 286 yards and two touchdowns and a 102.7 passer rating. Chiefs QB Tyler Thigpen faces a Chargers defense that played {to its potential} last week and recorded three interceptions, a forced fumble and three sacks against the Raiders.
Result: San Diego Chargers 22, Kansas City Chiefs 21
19
Green Bay Packers at Jacksonville Jaguars
23Packers QB Aaron Rodgers will test a Jaguars defense that gave up 219 passing yards and two touchdowns to Bears QB Kyle Orton. Jaguars RBs Fred Taylor and Maurice Drew face a Packers defense that gave up 141 rushing yards, which included an 18-yard jailbreak run by Texans P Matt Turk on a would-be punt that broke down.
Result: Green Bay Packers 16, Jacksonville Jaguars 20
21
Detroit Lions at Indianapolis Colts
30Lions QB Daunte Culpepper could struggle against a Colts defense that recorded five sacks, eight quarterback hurries, and three interceptions against the Bengals. Colts QB Peyton Manning faces a Lions defense that intercepted two passes in the first half against the Vikings and also knocked QB Gus Frerotte out of the game with a lower back injury.
Result: Indianapolis Colts 31, Detroit Lions 21
13
Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans
23Titans RBs LenDale White and Chris Johnson a Texans defense that allowed Packers RB Ryan Grant to rush for 104 yards and one touchdown on 19 carries. Texans QB Matt Schaub faces a Titans defense that had a strong advantage going against the Browns' third-string QB Ken Dorsey last week and held him to 150 passing yards with an interception.
Result: Tennessee Titans 12, Houston Texans 13
21
Washington Redskins at Cincinnati Bengals
23Last week, Redskins QB Jason Campbell spent most of the night trying to avoid the Ravens' blitzing defense, which recorded two sacks and two interceptions. Campbell should have success against a Bengals defense that couldn't record a sack against the Colts and couldn't stop QB Peyton Manning from carving up a depleted secondary for 277 passing yards and three touchdowns. Bengals QB Ryan Fitzpatrick faces a Redskins defense that hopes to correct coverage mistakes, which cost them against the Ravens.
Result: Washington Redskins 13, Cincinnati Bengals 20
16
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Atlanta Falcons
24Buccaneers QB Jeff Garcia will test a Falcons defense that held Saints QB Drew Brees to 230 yards on 18 attempts, which was his second-lowest passing total this season. Falcons QB Matt Ryan faces a Bucs defense that allowed Panthers WR Steve Smith to burn them for over 100 yards receiving with a touchdown.
Result: Atlanta Falcons 13, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 10
20
Minnesota Vikings at Arizona Cardinals
24Vikings RB Adrian Peterson faces a Cardinals defense that held Rams RB Steven Jackson to 3.4 yards a carry. Cardinals QB Kurt Warner will test a Vikings defense that gave up 220 passing yards to Lions QB Daunte Culpepper and allowed a 70-yard touchdown strike to Calvin Johnson in the third quarter.
Result: Arizona Cardinals 14, Minnesota Vikings 35
20
New England Patriots at Oakland Raiders
20Patriots QB Matt Cassel faces a Raiders defense that gave up passing yards in huge chunks against the Chargers. Raiders RB Justin Fargas will test a Patriots defense that allowed the Seahawks to average 5.2 yards per carry and eclipse 134 rushing yards.
Result: New England Patriots 49, Oakland Raiders 26
14
Denver Broncos at Carolina Panthers
28 Broncos QB Jay Cutler will test a Panthers defense that allowed Bucs QB Jeff Garcia to throw for 321 yards and two touchdowns, but sacked Garcia five times and played well enough to win the game. Panthers RBs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart face a Broncos defense that limited Chiefs RB Larry Johnson to 36 yards on 11 carries with no gains longer than 11 yards.
Result: Carolina Panthers 30, Denver Broncos 10
17
Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens
19Last week, Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger barely completed half of his passes and was sacked five times. Roethlisberger could struggle against a Ravens defense that played well against the Redskins. Ravens S Ed Reed returned a fumble for a touchdown and picked off two passes while LBs Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs recorded a sack each.
Result: Baltimore Ravens 9, Pittsburgh Steelers 13
17
NY Giants at Dallas Cowboys
24Last week, the Eagles limited the Giants' rushing attack to 88 total rushing yards on 24 carries. Giants RB Brandon Jacobs injured his knee, but walked off the field without a limp so he has a decent chance of playing this Week. The Giants' RBs will test a Cowboys defense that shutdown the Steelers' rushing attack and made a critical goal-line stop on 4th down. Cowboys QB Tony Romo faces a Giants defense that allowed Eagles QB Donovan McNabb to convert on third downs and gave up a 40-yard touchdown pass to RB Brian Westbrook.
Result: Dallas Cowboys 20, NY Giants 8

Every week this guy puts up the worst predictions. Take a little risk every once in a while and choose a major underdog or predict a blowout! This guy isn't an expert he's barely even a footall fan! He doesn't even get the predictions right most of the time. The worst part of the predictions are the little descriptions about each one. Who cares how much yards per carry Steven Jackson got against t ...(more)

Wow, the buccaneers have won 9 games and still are always underestimated. First of all they have a reliable quarterback in Jeff Garcia, he is kind of like Kerry collins in which everyone says that both cant lead their respective teams back. But both have proven that wrong. Jeff brought them back against Detroit. Tampa bay is not as inconsistent as the Carolina Panthers. They can win tough road gam ...(more)

The Harmon Forecast has nothing but negative things to say about Carolina. They gave up over 300 yards passing and two touchdowns in the air. Then it goes on to say that Denver held Stephen Davis to 30- something yards. Yet, the prediction has Carolina by 11.?????

Predictions:

Arizona 31    Minnesota 21

Washington 24  Cinncinnat ...(more)

Romo's been sacked 8 times this season, Cassel has been sacked 39 times this season.  Granted he has played less games but pressure does not seem to get to Romo like it does to Cassel, so why compare the two...

Is it just me, or is almost every game, every week within 3 points of the opening vegas line and over under?  Harmon takes no risk at all on predicting an upset, or blowout, and simply uses the vegas odds as his guideline, knowing that the vegas "experts" are far more precise than he is.  What a bum!

So on the expert picks Prisco picks the Broncos to cover the spread at +6 1/2 points.

Yet on his own picks he has the Panthers winning by 11.

Earth to Prisco??? If the Panthers win by 11 the Broncos would not cover the 6 1/2 point spread which you picked them to do!!! DUH!!!!

Matt Forte will test a Saints defense that allowed Michael Turner 41 yards after only 1 quarter?

Way to cherry pick a statistic to try to prove a point!  The next 3 quarters?  Turner only had 20 yards, 61 on the day.  One of the leading rushers in the NFL, putting 200+ yards up on some teams, we hold him to 61 yards, yet the Saints run defense is suspect because of it ...(more)

does anyone ever notice is harmon or prisco makes a pick for a team to win by 7 or more, the final is either an upset or a blowout by like 14 or even 20 or more points? every time they pick a close game, the winner wins by like 10 or 14 not like 1 or 3. and when they pick an upset its always wrong? or maybe its just me

Check-out the sportsballot.com games. I am # 1 in the Nation ( tied with one other player ) through the first four weeks of the season. Picking only winners I have 46 wins ! I was 11-2 last week losing only K.C. and the Redskins. Put up or shut-up. One of the new sites for sportsballot is marinij.sportsballot.com   .  I play at a different site ( good-luck ) but at all of their site ...(more)

How can you say the Redskins will win in Harmon Forecast but in expert picks you pick them to lose?

So Harmon comments that the Jets have to face a Denver defense that only gave up 152 yards to Oakland........................on 10 of 11 attempts..............in a complete blowout.

I'd take 152 in the air if they won by 17, lol.
