FlickChick is Saying Goodbye…

I'm moving on as of October 3.

Writing "Ask FlickChick" has always been one of the most enjoyable parts of my job, and you're a big part of the reason: Your questions are always great and I love research. So thanks for being such great readers, and I hope you'll stop by my personal website – I'm in the process of expanding it, so expect to see several new areas added in the next few weeks.

I'll be focusing on the kind of movies I love: Horror, offbeat vintage films, documentaries, neglected and overlooked classics, foreign films and exploitation. And I plan to write about books, television and pretty much anything weird and wonderful that crosses my path.

Thanks again for helping to make my time at TVGuide.com so much fun.

While I'm sorry to see that you're
leaving tvguide.com, I'm glad to see that you'll be continuing FlickChick at
your new website.

Will I still be able to access your
previous FlickChick blogs at tvguide.com? And, if so, for how long?

BTW: If you need a research assistant, please let me know: I'd be glad to help.

I really hate to hear this.

Even though I didn't post here very much, you were one of the classier people around this joint.

Best of luck and a happy life to you!

I agree with everyone, and I'm sorry I haven't been around much in the last few months-although I have to put part of the blame on TVG. I can't remember the last time they put your column on the front page, and they know darn well what happens with "lack of promotion."
Good luck with your future projects.:)

Sniff.

I will miss your blog. I hate when the people I read leave. (Tends to happen with TV guide people a lot).

Am glad you're continuing on in your website and am
bookmarking it.

Hi Maitland,

I've enjoyed the "conversations" we've had about classic horror films and classic film noir. I'm very sorry you're leaving here, but am looking forward to visiting your web site--I've already bookmarked it.

Here's to great success in your new endeavors.

Shoot. I was wondering why there were no new movie reviews on the site today.

I'm going to miss your Q&A column, but I'm most going to miss the weekly reviews. Y'all have had the best, most comprehensive movie reviews I've found. You reviewed the big releases, the small ones, the As, the Bs, the Zs, the sublime, the ridiculous, and in a very timely manner. I always looked forward to the latest batch of 'em on Fridays (and the occasional Wednesday). TVGuide.com has been my main go-to site for movie reviews for the last few years.

Thank you for all of that. Thank you for the fun. Thank you for sharing your opinion, knowledge, wisdom, experience, and passion with us. Thank you for making all types of movies and movie discussion and information accessible.

All the best to you, MD. It's been fun here for me too. While I'm sad to see you leave this familiar setting, I am pleased you are continuing elsewhere. We're just moving the party to another bar. I look forward to your new and upcoming projects. See you there.

Wow, Maitland . . . I had a feeling you were moving on so I'm glad you actually said an "official" goodbye. Previous posters have really said it all, but I just want to say that one of my favorite things in the morning used to be seeing my "alert" that "flickchick had been updated". I'd pour a cup of coffee and dive in! <sigh> I'd read you and then the various posts from your loyal followers, and I'd sometimes be inspired to comment, too. And then I'd eagerly look forward to any responses. It was like having a really smart group of friends to share things with. It was your "salon", Maitland, and we all loved going there. Of course I wish you well but, selfishly, I'll miss you. But, I've already gone to your website, "bookmarked it" and, of course, left you some questions! I'll be visiting often, and hope, as was said before me, that the party is "just moving to another bar"!!! And I hope everyone moves together because I have my favorite "posters", too, and I don't want to lose them, either! All the best to you, Maitland, and please don't be a stranger! So, I'm not saying "goodbye", I just saying I'll meet you at your new salon. ;) -- Jenny D

I agree with Mr Furley. I think TVGuide has treated you like a stepchild. You deserve better. I wish you all the best and will be checking out your website on a regular basis.

And so goes the last remaining member of the original TVGuideTalk Podcast crew.

I'm very sad to see you moving on - the stable of my favourite TVGuide writers continues to diminish - but I'm glad that you will be continuing to write about film, and I will definitely be checking out your website.

Being a horror fanatic myself, I loved your passion for the genre, and I've watched quite a few obscure horror titles thanks to your recommendations.

Good luck, and all the best.

First, the cancelling of "Ebert and Roeper" and now this. Looks like imdb.com is where I'll look for comments on the movies and tv shows I watch from now on (I also contribute my own comments there as tavm). Wondered what happend to you, Maitland, and glad to know you have your own website to go on to. Guess I'll check there from time to time. You were the one I most anticipated on the now-defunct podcast so it truly is an end of an era at tvguide.com!
