NBA Central Division Preview

November 20, 2008 3:01 pm - Author: Community Writer

Community writer, Mercury53, is starting a series of articles where he will feature the different divisions of the NBA. Today we are releasing his Central Division preview. Be sure to stop by our forums and share your predictions and thoughts on division.

*Teams are ordered in prediction they will finish the season.

 1) Cleveland Cavaliers – What more needs to be said then LeBron James. King James is one of the top players in the league and now he has some help. Mo Williams is playing great ball and Daniel Gibson is developing into a great overall player. The Cavs are still weak in the post with the aging Z and Ben Wallace. Yet despite a great start, nobody has seemed to notice. Look for the Cavs to defeat Boston is the conference finals and win their first title.

 2) Detroit Pistons – Allen Iverson didn’t really help the Nuggets and I don’t think he will do much good for Detroit either. It’s quite puzzling why a great offensive team would change it up and bring in a guy who is great individual talent. I don’t get it, but maybe it will pan out for them. The rest of the team is solid like usual and if Rodney Stucky can play as well as he has been, look out.

 3) Chicago Bulls – Long gone are the days of actually winning, in their place are losses, lots of them. The Bulls are young and have talent that needs to develop. They also seem to have a fetish for guards, which won’t help their post game problems. Derrick Rose is good but young and their best player, Luol Deng, is having a rough start. I see the Bulls making the playoffs, but not going very far.

 4) Indiana Pacers – Danny Granger is doing well for a player that young. As of now he is ranked fourth in the league in points and leading his team to wins after a 0-4 start. This team is solid, but too young to really make a splash. Expect them to content and possible upset a couple good teams on the road to the playoffs.

 5) Milwaukee Bucks – Michael Redd is good but something tells me he won’t be there for long. I have a feeling that teams like Cleveland who need shooting will make an offer the Bucks can’t pass up. If I am wrong, which I usually am, the Bucks should be average offensively. With new coach Scott Skiles at the helm the Bucks are playing good D; look for that to continue.
