Heads Up — 11/13

WORDS BY: Meghan Watt

Welcome back to our weekly online column, Heads Up. If you’ve ever searched around the internet looking for a current report on everything the Xbox 360 has to offer, you’ve no doubt hit numerous dead-ends. Heads Up attempts to alleviate your frustrations by offering a quick and complete guide to what you may have missed over the past week, online and in stores.

It’s another great week for gamers! A classic RTS hits the Xbox, our favorite bear-bird duo makes a comeback, and Call of Duty heads back in time to fight the Nazis. But if snatching jiggies or shooting baddies isn’t your idea of a fun time, the Marketplace has another weekly dosage of game videos, demos, and movies to tide you over. And of course, we can’t forget our sparkling Jewel of the Week.

JEWEL OF THE WEEK:

Mirror’s Edge

Sometimes mashing buttons, triggers, and thumbsticks actually gets a bit tiresome. So what if there was a game that made you completely forget that you’re just a gamer with a controller in your hand? What if you became the character on the screen? Mirror’s Edge does just that. Leap across rooftops and flow around obstacles as the free-running badass Faith in a game that takes the term “first-person” to a whole new level. Gorgeous, thrilling, and totally immersive, Mirror’s Edge is not only our Jewel of the Week, but a full-fledged OXM Editors’ Choice.

COMMENTS:

This was a fantastic week for new games(or new game reviews). I most enjoyed the Left 4 Dead demo even though the game is right around the corner.I can blow through the demo in 4 minutes flat, but every time is different. I am probably going to just get Tomb Raider: Underworld to check out the new hot Lara Croft, or gonna pause the game and get a good angle...if you know what I mean.

7.5 for COD:WAW? Seriously? The game was way better than that! At least an 8.5 or something.
