HYDERABAD: Chief minister Y S
Rajasekhara Reddy on Monday flagged-off an amphibious Aquarius Truxor to remove
floating debris from the shores of Hussainsagar.
HMDA imported it
from Switzerland at a cost of Rs 1.30 crore. This is the second machine HMDA has
procured and deployed in the lake.
Buddha Purnima Project Authority
officer-on-special duty N Chandramohan Reddy said it can remove debris floating
in the water, cut aquatic vegetation and clear silt.
A dredge pump,
which could be attached to the machine, can remove sediments from a depth of 1.7
metres and hoses up to 300 mts length.
"The dredged material will be
sent to the dumpyard at Jawaharnagar by trucks everyday," he said.
