THE HEROIC DUO OF Rachet and Clank have been around a while, saving countless planets, races from extinction and rescuing the odd damsel in distress. With that hard work under their belts the duo finally decide to settle down at home for some much needed R&R. However trouble is never too far away as the duo now find themselves the centre of an invasion in, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction

Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction is the 6th instalment in a series that has been enjoyed by many and across the various PS consoles and Handhelds. Not only is Tools of Destruction its 6th instalment, but it will also be its first onto the PS3 platform.

Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction sees the heroic duo being chased down by the Cragmites who are dead set on eliminating the races known as Lombax. It just so happens that Ratchet is the last of the Lombax and what they first thought was an invasion, was actually a full scale attack with Ratchet being the primary target.

The conflict dates back many years, however the current breed of Cragmites have ignited the age old conflict and have set their eyes on destroying Ratchet. The heroic duo manage to escape and now set off once again on an adventure like no other, in a bid to save his own life and unlock the secrets of his people and the conflict that have cost many Lombax.

Tools of Destruction release to PS3 will be a bonus for many who love the series. Ratchet & Clank latest adventure looks set to embrace and fully use the power of the PS3 to deliver a much greater experience. Characters and planets have been given a bit of an overhaul to give the game more life and make a clearer distinction between places and people you will come across.

One feature however remains largely unchanged, its controls. However the controls have always been good and easy to use, so why really change something has worked for so long. It makes gameplay a lot easier and a bit more free flowing than if you had to string together a few combo's. The developers have added the use of SIXAXIS to the controls allowing for missiles to be guided directly into unsuspecting foes. Its not a great change, but just adds a bit more to gameplay and offers another way of attacking.

There are more features in this game, which we have listed and are sure will increase the curiosity of what this game has to offer. So look out for the release of Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction which is set to be release shortly so keep an eye out for the release and also check out some of the screen shots on hand.

Key Features:

  • Insomniac Games has overhauled its proprietary PS3 engine technology to create the most visceral Ratchet & Clank universe yet, overflowing with exotic creatures and flying vehicles.

  • Experience many more objects on screen and in more intricate detail than what was possible on PlayStation2 Ratchet & Clank games.

  • The PS3 system's superior power enables Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction to bring vivid worlds to life with increased draw distances, enhanced lighting and shadowing, and more fluid and exaggerated animations.

  • Discover an all-new galaxy spanning vast worlds such as a majestic cloud city and a space-age amusement park.

  • Encounter an entirely new cast of expressive characters (and some old favourites) as well as the introduction of a variety of new alien races and life forms.

  • Experience a more emotive Ratchet with nearly as many animation joints in his face (90) as PS2 Ratchet had in his entire body (112). This joint density applies to many of the characters featured in Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, enabling more detailed, personable and expressive characters.

  • Clank returns as a playable character, and Ratchet will have new enhanced abilities.

  • Fire a fully stocked arsenal of all-new weapons such as the Plasma Beasts and Tornado Launcher, which uses the SIXAXIS™ controller to direct tornadoes, which suck up enemies and whip them around with debris.

  • Use the SIXAXIS controller to manoeuvre, destroy enemies and solve puzzles.
