Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters

Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment Europe

RATCHET AND CLANK HAVE been around the block a few times since their first game release on PS2, but now they are about to venture onto the small screen in Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters. This PSP debut boasts similar features to those we know and love from past incarnations, and some added extras thrown in, too.

Size Matters sees Ratchet and Clank start out tracking down a little girl who is kidnapped; however things quickly turn and Ratchet and Clank find themselves embroiled in a story full of twists throughout. It's a story that will see you come across odd and undiscovered races, and like its predecessors on PS2, things are spiced up with a sense of humour along the way.

As always, to get a job done you need the right tools. Ratchet starts out with his trusted wrench which can be thrown or swung at enemies. As the game continues you can build on this and have an arsenal which can include rocket launchers, acid bombs and mini robots that will attach to your foes and explode.

However Ratchet is not going to hog all the glory. Clank jumps in for a bit of action as well, venturing into places Ratchet can't go and also has some flying missions. Clank even has his own troops you can control, in the form of mini-robots, a bit like mini-me Clanks to help out along the way.

There's a fair bit of variety and this is again highlighted in the game's levels where they are a mixture of both fighting and problem solving. A little something for everyone, but enough to keep you entertained throughout.

The beauty of games being ported to PSP is the wireless capabilities that can be offered. Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters sees up to four players being able to partake in deathmatch or objective-based games. If you want to take it to the next level then you can take the game online. Going online allows you to create a list of friends and lets you track score along the way. A great way to turn things up!!

Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters seems to be a very entertaining and action-packed game. It may seem like a straight port from PS2, but it's not. There are a few added extras and a new storyline that will mix it up a bit more than what was seen on PS2. So don't miss out on this one - the game is released this week.

In the meantime check out some of the key features and screenshots and order your copy.

Key features:

  • Ratchet and Clank make their PlayStation Portable debut, going back to the franchise's roots with classic Ratchet & Clank gameplay. Play through an original story and explore all new worlds, specifically designed for the PSP

  • Clank returns as a playable character and players can control the gadgebots, pilot super-sized robotic torsos and engage in space combat missions as Giant Clank

  • Experience the combat and destruction you expect from the series with new and familiar weapons and gadgets including the Mootator, Agents of Doom and Shrink Ray

  • Unlock over six different armour types with a customisable armour system that gives Ratchet new abilities and powers to advance through challenging action-packed areas

  • Tear up the track in Intergalactic Hover-boarding and struggle for Clank's survival in all new Combat Arena missions
