RELEASING ON 10 NOVEMBER - with plenty of time before that last-minute Christmas shopping frenzy; Sony's latest EyeToy: Play title will be a sure-fire hit with kids of all ages. EyeToy: Play Sports features no less than 101 crazy mini-games, all with a sporting theme. In addition to Sony's take on mainstream classics such as rugby, tennis and cricket, you'll be able to experience some lesser known sports such as hang gliding, archery and sumo wrestling. Those seeking something a with little more originality can try their hand at elephant racing, rubber duck polo… or even cheerleading!
Like previous EyeToy: Play titles the focus is on fun, and while there are plenty of single player options available, the EyeToy games have always been more enjoyable when played with a group of friends. This one is no exception, with five different game modes designed to bring out the competitive spirit in everyone - up to 8 players in total. Here's a sampler:
Football Fever is a team-based mode for 2-4 players, which is set on a football pitch. The aim is to win mini-games, thus advancing your team up the pitch and scoring a goal.
Scoreboard mode is also for 2-4 players, but this time it's player versus player as everyone vies for top spot on the scoreboard.
Of course, if you don't happen to have friends or siblings on hand to compete with, there is a single player mode especially for solo fliers. Par for the Course is golf with a twist: your results in the mini-games determine how well each stroke is played. A good score will direct your golf ball ever closer to the hole, whereas a bad one might see the ball end up in the rough (or worse).
We'll be bringing you a kid-tested, full review on EyeToy: Play Sports in the very near future. In the meantime, check out these screens and the official site for a sneak preview of what's in store:
