Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time

Developer: Nintendo; Publisher: Nintendo
Preview by Huntress (24 January 2006)

BACK IN 2003 NINTENDO'S RPG for the Game Boy Advance: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, really wowed us with its simple but addictive gameplay, superb sound and graphics, and clever humour. With double the bro's on dual screens, the sequel, Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time looks set for a repeat performance on the Nintendo DS.

When Princess Peach goes missing after taking Professor E. Gadd's new time machine for an ill-fated joyride, our two favourite Italian plumbers step up to the mark. Back in time they go to rescue her and rid the Mushroom Kingdom of some evil invaders known as the Shroobs; only this time they hook up with much younger versions of themselves, and the foursome embark on what promises to be another cracker of an RPG.

Players will control all four brothers, teaming up or using the "divide and conquer" strategy where required to solve puzzles and defeat foes. There's special attacks and combo moves to be learned, plus plenty of experience to be earned, and gameplay will actively utilise both of the DS' screens. We can't wait to get our hands on it!

Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time is scheduled for release on 24th February.
