Destroy All Humans!

Developer: Pandemic Studios; Publisher: THQ
Preview by (10 June 2005)

SOME OF THE BEST science fiction movies are those from the past, before good special effects became commonplace. Movies such as It Came From Outer Space, Invasion of the Body Snatchers and Plan Nine from Outer Space were not particularly good movies by today's standards, but they can still evoke a feeling of innocence and wonder about the rest of the universe before technology allowed us to get a better grasp about what or who was beyond our atmosphere.

This innocence and sense of camp appears to be what is driving Destroy All Humans!, the new game from the Australian team at Pandemic Studios. Set in the 1950s, the game turns the tables on the old movies by allowing players to star as an alien bent on the destruction of mankind. Featuring a similar style of humour and respect for past movies as Tim Burton's version of Mars Attacks!, Destroy All Humans! looks to be a fun romp for gamers who like the idea of causing mayhem and destruction in a cartoon world.

Gamers play as Crypto, an alien warrior sent to Earth to clear the way for the Furon invasion force. Your mission is to infiltrate humanity, control them, harvest their brain stems and ultimately destroy them. Two methods are open for Crypto to achieve this - infiltration or disintegration. Find out more when Destroy All Humans! releases later this month.

Features:

  • Turn the tables on the classic alien vs. human storyline. In Destroy All Humans!, play from the alien perspective and finally know what it feels like to have the upper hand.
  • Arm yourself with a variety of alien weaponry on land or in the air. Use the Ion detonator, the Zap-o-Matic, the Sonic Boom, or even the Quantum Deconstructor to eradicate feeble humans.
  • Explore and interact with 5 huge environments using an arsenal of alien abilities to manipulate humans into submission: hypnotize, body-snatch, read minds, levitate and more.
  • Take to the skies in your UFO, abduct animals, cars, and humans for research, or cause large-scale destruction.
  • Packed with familiar and popular sci-fi references.
