ESR’s financial performance for 2007/08 was better than planned, with a net surplus of $2.9 million against a target of $2.3 million, which equated to a 10.1% return on equity.

The opening of ESR’s science centre at the National Centre for Biosecurity and Infectious Diseases at Wallceville was a key achievement for ESR in 2007/08.  During the year, ESR also provided 24/7 forensic services to the New Zealand justice system, delivered training workshops for 130 Crown prosecutors, and provided forensic training to more than 1,000 police officers.
