Revising Shipping & Billing Information for an Order

Changing Orders Shipped and/or Sold by Amazon.com

If your order hasn't entered the shipping process yet, it's easy to revise shipping and billing information in Your Account.

To change your order information:

  1. Visit Your Account at www.amazon.com/your-account.
  2. Click the GO button next to "Open and recently shipped orders."
  3. Sign in with your e-mail address and password if prompted.
  4. Click the View or change order button for the order you want to edit.
  5. Click the Change button next to the information you wish to update. You can change your shipping address, payment method, shipping method, number of shipments, and billing address. For security reasons, when you change your shipping address you will need to reenter your credit card number.
  6. Be sure to click the Confirm button after making your change.

Changing Orders Shipped by Merchants or Marketplace Sellers

If the item you orders is sold and shipped by a third-party seller, you will need to contact the seller directly to make any order changes. Amazon transmits your order data to the seller shortly after your order is placed. Once the order is sent, it cannot be modified on Amazon.com.

To contact your seller to change an order:

  1. Visit Your Account at www.amazon.com/your-account.
  2. Click the GO button next to "Open and recently shipped orders."
  3. Sign in with your e-mail address and password if prompted.
  4. Click the View order button for the order you want change.
  5. Click the Problem with this order? button.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions for contacting the seller.

Orders Shipping that Can't Be Changed

If an order is marked as "Shipping Soon," it is being prepared for shipment and cannot be changed by you or by our customer service department. If the package will not reach you because of an incorrect address, it will be returned to us as undeliverable and you will need to place a new order.

Troubleshooting Payment Issues

For information about troubleshooting payment issues, please visit our Payments, Pricing, & Promotions Help section. Advice for how to solve payment issues is available by payment type. Here's where you can find more information:

Will my order be cancelled if payment declines?

  • If you placed your order with Amazon.com, we will try charging the same payment method again if you do not submit updated information. Typically, we attempt to charge your payment method daily for one week before canceling your order.

  • If your order was for a gift certificate, you will need to cancel the declined order and place a new one.

  • If the order was placed with an Amazon Merchant, the order will be cancelled if the payment fails. If this happens, you are welcome to place a new order using a different payment method.

  • If the order was placed through Amazon Marketplace, you will have an opportunity to resubmit payment. If the second attempt to process the charge also fails, your order will be canceled.
