Office of Multicultural Affairs

Our Mission

The goal of the UW School of Medicine's Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMCA) is to facilitate the identification, recruitment, retention, and professional development of individuals from underrepresented and/or disadvantaged backgrounds who are interested in pursuing M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degrees.

Considered a strong support program by students, faculty, and its peers, OMCA is staffed by caring individuals who are truly committed to student services. OMCA staff are available to:

  • provide individual counseling and academic advising to students; assist students during the admissions and application process;
  • serve as a general information resource for both academic and nonacademic needs;
  • facilitate access to the multitude of resources within the School, region, and the community; and
  •  develop several academic, informational, and social programs for pre-medical and medical students throughout the year.
