Seats in style

NAMED AFTER the 18th Century British architectural designer, John Chippendale, this furniture and interiors shop on Airport Road is a household name in the garden city. Chippendale furniture and interiors shop, Rajan Nambiar's brainchild, boasts of furniture that has quality and style. They have been able to survive a market that is flooded with imported furniture.

Set up in 1992, it has come a long way . Says Nambiar proudly: "When I was setting up a home I realised there was a dearth of good furniture shops. At that time I was considering entering some business and this came as a great idea." And despite stiff competition from foreign imports Chippendale has managed to wade through with the help of its customer loyalty and the upper hand of quality that it has maintained till now. Chippendale specialises in furniture made of Burma teak, rubber wood, and beach wood, import from Burma and elsewhere. At Chippendale Nambiar assures that you will get a package that has quality, unique styling, and finish with unfailing customer service to follow. So you have office furniture that comes with great functionality and aesthetic styling. And at your service is a vast array of specifications, with interior designers to create perfect ambience and setting. They recommend the right solutions for available space.

"Our USP is customer service we render even years after the furniture is bought from us. So also the finish in our furniture, made possible by expert workers from across the country," explains Mr. Nambiar.

"Globalisation has changed the tastes of homemakers. Many prefer wrought iron furniture, which has become a fashion today. But since we cater to the specific needs of customers and offer a wide choice we are able to match our competitors," adds Mr. Nambiar.

The entire set of interiors will cost Rs. 3.5 lakh and basic necessities such as kitchen cabinets, wardrobes come for Rs. 2 lakh. They have jumped onto the IT bandwagon with the integration of the latest tools and technology and planned workflow . Currently its client list includes BPL, BILT, HAL, BEML, ISRO and NAL. A proof for their good work is that Nambiar has got orders from as far as Muscat and more closer home from Vijayawada, Goa, Coimbatore, Chennai, and so on.

"I am planning to set up branches sometime in future. Right now I am thinking of upgrading the factory in Bangalore. That is where our business and customer dreams are getting translated," says Mr. Nambiar.
