MPAA RATING: G

Starring Fred Willard, Jeff Garlin, Sigourney Weaver, John Ratzenberger, and Kathy Najimy

What if mankind had to leave Earth, and somebody forgot to turn the last robot off? After hundreds of lonely years of doing what he was built for, Wall-E discovers a new purpose in life when he meets a sleek search robot named EVE. EVE comes to realize that Wall-E has inadvertently stumbled upon the key to the planet’s future, and races back to space to report her findings to the humans. Meanwhile, WALL-E chases eve across the galaxy and sets into motion one of the most exciting and imaginative comedy adventures ever brought to the big screen. Joining WALL-E on his fantastic journey across a universe of never-before-imagined visions of the future is a hilarious cast of characters including a pet cockroach, and a heroic team of malfunctioning misfit robots. The visual design of Wall-E is arguably Pixar's best. Stanton, who wrote the script with Jim Reardon from a story he concocted with Peter Docter, creates two fantastically imaginative, breathtakingly lit worlds.

While I may argue with the little guy's taste in musicals, it's remarkable to see any film, in any genre, blend honest sentiment with genuine wit and a visual landscape unlike any other.

The idea that a company in the business of mainstream entertainment would make something as creative, substantial and cautionary as WALL-E has to raise your hopes for humanity.

It's Pixar's most daring experiment to date, but it still fits neatly into the studio's pantheon: Made with as much focus on heart as on visual quality, it's a sheer joy.

The first half hour of WALL-E is essentially wordless, and left me speechless. This magnificent animated feature from Pixar starts on such a high plane of aspiration, and achievement, that you wonder whether the wonder can be sustained. But yes, it can.

Mixing Chaplinesque delicacy with the architectural grandeur of a Stanley Kubrick film, director Andrew Stanton recycles film history and makes something fresh and accessible from it without pandering to a young audience.

Once again, the Pixar wizards have pushed the animation envelope in unexpected directions and come up with a winner. Wondrously inventive, funny and poignant, WALL*E is part sci-fi adventure, part cautionary fable, part satire and part love story, which may be the best and most improbable part of all.

To call WALL•E Pixar's best film would potentially denigrate films that deserve no scorn. But this is their most ambitious undertaking since "Toy Story" and storytelling of such charm and visual wit that it can stand proudly alongside the studio’s best. Absolute heaven.

The story line for WALL-E is probably too convoluted for small kids, and sometimes it suffers from techie overload, but it's more heartfelt than anything on the screens these days featuring humans.

The first hour of Wall-E is a crazily inventive, deliriously engaging and almost wordless silent comedy of the sort that Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton used to make.

Apparently, the movie has caused annoyance in some quarters because it criticizes the American way of life. This it does, and with suavity and supreme good humor. WALL-E is a classic, but it will never appeal to people who are happy with art only when it has as little bite as possible.

The first 40 minutes or so of Wall-E -- in which barely any dialogue is spoken, and almost no human figures appear on screen -- is a cinematic poem of such wit and beauty that its darker implications may take a while to sink in.

Patrick S. gave it a10:
It's been a long time since I left the theater with a permanent smile on my face. There is indeed a strong political and environmental message in this movie... yes it gives a frightening vision of not so impossible future of our civilization... and critics and viewers are discussing it for hours ! Why ? Why can't we just watch a movie in simplicity especially when a movie makes you forget about your day and put dreams and stars in your eyes ! Sometimes "silence is gold". I wish I could meet the writers and designers of this movie, shake their hand, and have a cup of coffee with them.

Daniel C. gave it a9:
Another victory for Pixar. This one even supplies a message that can be understood by adults and children alike.

Tom B. gave it a3:
We're a retired couple, so probably shouldn't have expected to get wrapped up in such a movie, despite it's many high ratings. I recognized the satire, the commentary on today's world, the romantic angle, the skilled animation........but we found it boring.

Rosalie M. gave it an8:
I think that all those who gave 0's and 1's didn't really understand what this movie really was... First, I don't think it was intended for kids. When I was in the movie theater, I quickly noticed that they weren't enjoying the movie as much as the adults. Normal, though. Which kids are informed about global warming and CO2, and which of them are concentrated enough to see the poesy in an almost silent movie, tell me? So, my advise would be: «Do not take your children to see this movie, but go see it with your boyfriend/girlfriend. And let the images do all the work.»

Antonio F. gave it a10:
The best, intelligent and profound movie I saw in the last years.

Janikous gave it a9:
Beautiful CGI, and genuinely lovable main character make this my favorite entire-CG movie, ever.

Edward T. gave it a10:
A joy to behold! This film stands way above the likes of Shrek (1,2, &3) and even some of Pixars own exemplary work. What puts this film on top is its' non-reliance on incessant pop culture/potty humor, as well as it's boldness to be a tale that is far far deeper and complex than most animated fare (and even live action fare) in recent memory. The Blu-Ray disc can't come soon enough. I'm gonna catch this one again before it leaves my local megaplex
