This is Cube's strongest performance musically and lyrically in many many years, so he's not only forgiven for using such an absurd word, he's actually given me hope that it might eventually show up in the hip-hop dictionary.
70
Rolling Stone
Raw Footage runs about four songs too long and contains one too many lines about how Cube needs to feed his family, which all sounds a little silly coming from a guy who could retire just on the DVD sales of Barbershop. But Raw Footage proves that even though he's middle-aged, he's still hungry.
70
All Music Guide
The bombastic intro and interludes with Keith David could go too, but otherwise this no-answers, gritty ego trip will satisfy his fans while pushing everyone else away even further.
70
Boston Globe
Older and wiser doesn't mean played out, and his rhymes are wittier and more tightly coiled than most of his younger peers.
70
Billboard
Occasional clunkers aside, the impassioned delivery and stripped-down G-funk grooves are still more potent than plenty of efforts by rappers half Cube's age.
58
The Onion (A.V. Club)
The rap legend's second independently released solo album is a long way from "AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted," but the old man is still good for a larf.
40
NOW Magazine
Overall, the gangsta bravado and rabble-rousing sound uninspired and too familiar.
