Puchi Puchi Virus does not resemble the ordinary puzzle game. The usual "object drop" style was replaced with a more intuitive system of "object linkage". Its simple design and surprisingly in-depth game play can addict even the most demanding puzzle game enthusiasts. The object is to form at least a single triangle formation by linking viruses together and erasing them from the screen. Victory conditions vary from mission to mission, but erasing all of the viruses will be the fundamental rule of this game. Erase all the viruses and you win, but if the screen gets filled with the emerging viruses you lose. Note: there is a twist to this system that gives depth to the game play. Viruses turn to stone if left alone for a while, which cannot be selected to form a triangle. However, these stones can be erased if they are within a triangle that you create. With a little luck and practice players can rake in massive points by letting the viruses turn to stones and erasing them all at once. [NIS America]

Another successful release for NIS, this puzzle adventure offers plenty of single player challenges and a solid multiplayer mode.

Hardcore Gamer Magazine
Overall, the tongue-in-cheek humor, combined with the rather engaging puzzle system and multiplayer capabilities, make this a rather infectious title.

Puchi Puchi Virus offers a superb and (most importantly) original puzzle experience that anybody can pick up and gradually start to understand, to the point where they start pulling off big chains without even thinking about it. This definitely comes highly recommended.

Puchi Puchi Virus is a must own for puzzle gamers simply because there is nothing quite like it on the DS, or any other system for that matter. The gameplay is simple enough to be picked up and played quickly, however challenging enough to keep even the most skilled player busy for many hours.

Game Informer
Still, it's addictive, and the humor of the patient cards you unlock is motivation to keep going after the gameplay grows stale. [May 2008, p.99]

A fun and fast-paced (albeit shallow) puzzler, Puchi Puchi Virus should appeal to casual gamers looking for something easy to get into.

Gaming Nexus
Quick, fun, but shallow. Puchi Puchi Virus gives you a quick dose of puzzling fun, but the new game smell wears off quick.

Gaming Age
Exceptionally fun. With a market full of sequels and repeats of ideas (Planet Puzzle League comes to mind), Puchi Puchi Virus breaths a little fresh air into the genre.

Everything about the game is well presented for the most part, as the visual and aural aspects are quite unique. It's eclectic, like I said before, but it's colorful and that adds to the overall allure or charm.

Nintendo Power
What makes the game frustrating is that the viruses appear onscreen randomly and start congealing quickly, so you don't have a lot of time to plan ahead for chaining opportunities--which can be a problem when you're tasked with performing three chains of seven in three minutes. [May 2008, p.88]

If it weren't for the humor in the game, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Thanks to the clever writing, there are some who will appreciate the game enough to forgive the limited gameplay mechanics.

Despite the pun-tastic monsters and multiplayer vs, the virus busting just didn't hold our attention as long as we would've hoped.

Game Revolution
This is not one of those casual puzzles games that you absently play while you’re yakking on the phone with your friends or otherwise multitasking—this one takes all your attention and all your reflexes for short, intense bursts of time.

With that said, PPV will not give you any undesired side effects unless you're an ardent hater of puzzle games; beware of purchase though.
