Mister Slime |
|
As the young but determined hero Mister Slime, players set off on an adventure, trying to protect Slime Village from its evil enemies, the Axons. Using the touch screen and stylus, players must navigate the levels by dragging and stretching Mister Slime’s arms to grab hold of small anchor points scattered throughout the game. Mister Slime features inventive uses of characteristics specific to Nintendo DS, including sound and shape recognition. As an example, players are able to blow on Mister Slime to make him fly in the air or to help him breathe under water. Mister Slime features both single and multiplayer game modes with a variety of level design. All together, Mister Slime keeps gamers busy for hours trying to stretch and manipulate their way through the wonderful world of slime. [SouthPeak Games]

GamePro
While the tapping for some reason can occasionally be imprecise, leaving the gameplay feeling a little less tight than it could've been, Mister Slime is definitely solid enough (despite being...yeah, slimy) to warrant a look for the puzzle adventure set.

GameZone
A delightfully engaging and likeable Nintendo DS game that might not be perfect but is still a game worth a look if you like decent platform games with good puzzles.
72
Cheat Code Central
Mister Slime features some cool control ideas and a few innovative gameplay elements. Unfortunately, it can be a struggle to stick with the gameplay for extended periods of time; there's little actual excitement to be had, since the slow pace plods on steadily.

NGamer UK
Physics-based puzzle mazes with a slightly duff hero and a very slick control method. [Oct 2008, p.69]

ZTGameDomain
The problem here is that the concept wears out its welcome far too quickly and without enough diversity in the gameplay you will find yourself forcing your way through the later levels.

Da Gameboyz
Perfect for gaming on the run. It will keep you entertained for several hours and the initial gameplay offers up enough value to keep you occupied while waiting in an airport or riding on a subway.
60
Nintendo Power
The trouble comes when Slimy has to slingshot himself into enemies, causing damage to himself more often than not. [July 2008, p.88]

1UP
Ultimately, Mister Slime feels like a decent level-traversal concept in search of a more attractive, ambitious game.

IGN
Mister Slime is a big ball of meh.

My Gamer
Mister Slime is one giant bowl of weak sauce; you are better off without.

GameSpot
Mister Slime looks about as simplistic as it plays, displaying gameplay on the bottom screen while relegating Slimy's health, points, and menu items to the top screen.
