Forget Mario Kart, Metroid Prime Hunters, and Animal Crossing. Jump Ultimate Stars is THE definitive online game for the Nintendo DS.

If you just like a good fighting game, or licensed games done right, Jump Ultimate Stars is easily the best pickup you can make for the DS. It keeps the flavor of each original series intact, and it revels in the kind of geeky debates that have captivated comics fans for ages. [JPN Import]

Thunderbolt
Jump! Ultimate Stars has 300 of the most famous anime characters ever to be shown in a Shonen Jump issue. The sheer amount of possible options and deck building strategies ought to keep you occupied long after you’ve unlocked everything. All of the characters have been redone with new moves and fighting styles, making the game seem refreshingly deep for both veterans of Jump Superstars and new gamers alike. But above all else, the extensive online multiplayer will keep you coming back for more. [JPN Import]

This is fast-paced and fun, with a walrus-load of levels to bash through and an online multiplayer for splendid koma tapping entertainment - just watch out for the giant horse. [JPN Import; Feb 2007, p.77]

Jump Ultimate Stars. What more can be said? It's like Smash Bros. on crack, with some of the smoothest online play there is on the DS right now, an infinitely deep team-creation system, and is the very definiteion of a "for the fans" game.

Patrick V. gave it a10:
This is the best game I play in Nintendo DS...great game awesome the best the best the best of all.

Mike O. gave it a10:
This game was amazing almost everyone is playable and it goes online what else is there to say.

Grave The Undead gave it a10:
One of the best WiFi Games I have ever played, The large amount of strategies and characters makes you think up many new strategies, and even getting some very rare characters is a challenge, such as Orochimaru.

Review: Jump Ultimate Stars (Import) To say the least when I heard that there was a sequel coming out to Jump Superstars, I was psyched to say the least, and when I heard that it had more of what I loved from the first game in it, I could not wait for it, so when I could afford nothing else I made sure that this game found its way into my library. But was it worth it? Story: Have you ever wondered "what if my favorite anime characters were to cross universes and fight, who would win?" well in Jump Superstars it happens! Ever wonder if Ruroni Kenshin could beat Ronolo Zolo in a sword fight? Try it out. Think Naruto can beat Goku, do it! Or have you every wanted see Bo-bobo Vs Luffy to see what can stretch farther, Luffy or Bo-bobo's nose hair. That is right if a character has appeared in the Shonen Jump comics they are featured in this game Graphics: The graphics are only slightly better than what you can be done on the GBA but still it passes for what it tries to achieve. Each character is highly detailed and looks to their look in their respective worlds. And when I say each character I mean dozens of characters from each series. On a side note the FMV opening is still cool, though at this point in the DS's life span, we have seen a lot of this on the DS lately Music: The music is average, but the characters sound is good, and the effects are true to the characters, and their respective abilities. Know that if you are expecting the sound effects that were featured in their respective anime series that it won't be here since this is a Manga License not the anime license, which is why they can get everyone together in a game like this. Control: Control wise the game is simple to control and play. Fighting can get frantic especially when there is more than one opponent in the fight at one time. If I were to liken it to anything I would say this game is very reminiscent of Super Smash Bros. but different in that you can design your own team using the team design mode. What I found amazing is that despite the fact that I know absolutely no Japanese that the controls and menus were so intuitive and easy to use that I had no trouble at all navigating them, and within 2 or 3 days was using the controls and manus as if I could read the text. All is not perfect though, it can be annoying to activate a support character with the stylus in the middle of a heated battle, I find my self using my thumb to activate support komas this time, and some of the characters from the original game don't control like they did in the original, to the point that the don't seem like the same characters they were before. Design: As with the original I like the games menus, the menus are easy to use and once figured out become fairly intuitive as well. The team design remains the same, in that you can have anyone on your team but they can only be on there once, and other characters are there only to support a character, or to provide some comic relief, but you have a limited number of open slots to fill up your roster, so filling up your roster with the right balance adds a good level of strategy to the game, especially for certain situations. Multiplayer has been extended with Nintendo Wi Fi access this time, so now it is easier to find matches other than the normal DS to DS fun you had before. The only real fault that I have with this game is that in mission mode you need to have a translator to know exactly what is required of you in most missions, but that is to be expected of an imported game thank god for Gamefaqs.com, and you will need it since this game will never be released as an American release, since getting the rights for each of these properties will prove impossible. Another fault is just a minor gripe to me, they included many more characters, series, and available support characters, but not with every series, and I had hoped that they would have done that with at least the series that were featured in the original game, Naruto's time jump made sense, but why not have his new partner (Sai) available as a fighter or a support Koma (Koma = Comic Panel)? Ruroni Kenshin really didn't receive an upgrade, and there are no new fighters to deal with from the series, though Kenshin him self has another level, and what if you liked some of the koma's they took out, why cant I use Naruto as a kid again? As with before, Anime fans this game is for you! And it is still well worth the steep import price. DS owners should get this import because it will never be released in the states (too many licenses to acquire), then again I said that with the last game, and the import copy's of Jump Superstars made it into my local Best Buy store just before Christmas of 06, so you never know. Graphics 8/10 Game play 9/10 Sound 8/10 Fun factor 10/10 Tilt 10/10 Average score 9.0 Jump Ultimate Stars: Pros: Still a Fun game Multiplayer is a blast Still a lot of anime favorite characters Easy to use Intuitive More charicters one button support komas More Modes Cons: Touch screen menu can be a pain Needs an English translater .... Thank god for Gamefaqs.com Not every comic got an upgrade
