Orvis Anti-Tail-Wagging Furniture

How many times has your happy, lovable dog wagged his or her tail so hard near the coffee table that a glass of wine went flying onto your why-did-I-ever-choose-such-a-light-color carpet? Luckily you don't have to put Fido in the basement during your next cocktail party, thanks to Orvis' wag-proof furniture. Both the coffee table and the end table have recessed areas where you can keep your wine glasses and other breakable items safe from dogs' tails. The coffee table even has a sliding tray, so you can protect that cheese plate from your dog's mouth, should you need to leave the room.

UGG Colum Shoes

New from UGG Australia: These "Colum" oxfords for men. Available in black and "chocolate chip," the European-inspired sneakers remind us of Simple brand shoes, but without all the white contrast stitching, like they're designed more for Casual Fridays than Skate Park Saturdays. The sneakers are made from rich leathers and soft suedes, and come with 2 different insoles - one leather and one sheepskin - so you can pick which one is more comfortable. More UGG footwear for men, women, and kids.

The StressEraser

We usually head to the gym when we're stressed out, but some people might prefer the StressEraser. This portable medical device first measures your pulse. If your pulse is too high, the StressEraser prompts you to slow and deepen each breath, which slows down your pulse and makes your body relax. It's got on-screen visual prompts as well as audio tones, so you can use it in the dark or with your eyes closed. And it tracks your "performance" so you can understand your own stress triggers. The company recommends you use it for 15 minutes before you go to sleep, and whenever you are feeling stressed out.

Introducing the new, slightly-more-affordable iPod Touch, a device Apple calls "the funnest iPod ever." It's a hair thicker than its predecessor, but now it has built-in volume controls, a built-in speaker, Nike+ hardware and software, more games (including Spore: Origins), and longer battery life (up to 36 hours for music, 6 hours for video). The new iPod Touch is priced at $229 for the 8GB version, $299 for the 16GB version, and $399 for the 32GB version.

5 Year Diary

When we heard about the 5 year diary, we had to order several copies to give as gifts. The diary is a clothbound, hardcover book that lets you keep track of your life with just a few lines every day for 5 years. Each page of the diary is devoted to one day of the year and subdivided into 5 sections (one for each of 5 years). So as you're writing what happened on December 1, 2009 you'll be reminded of what happened on December 1, 2008. The dates are blank, so you can start on any day of the year, even a leap year. The perfect gift for new parents, people who might not otherwise keep diaries, and people who appreciate good design.
