Live from London, It's...Amy Winehouse?

Amy Winehouse

The Grammy peeps really want Amy Winehouse to be a part of the big show on Sunday.

Now that it's official that the 24-year-old rehabbing songstress' visa has been denied, we know she won't be winging her way Stateside for the 50th annual shindig. But producers are still scrambling to find a way for her to appear.

This is the latest:

A crew has been put on hold in Britain for a live satellite appearance from London, a source just said. Grammy producers are hopeful, I'm told, that her remote appearance—she's up for six Grammys—will include a performance of her two top songs, “Rehab” and “You Know I’m No Good.”

Producers had been holding rehearsal time on Friday here in L.A. for Winehouse, but I'm told that it was cut from the Grammy schedule earlier today.

Winehouse Watch: Rehearsal Time Booked—Is She Grammy-Bound After All?

Amy Winehouse

I just got some promising Amy Winehouse news. Producers are so hopeful she'll obtain a visa to come to the States for Sunday’s awards show, they’ve set aside rehearsal time for her and her band, I'm told.

As of right now, Winehouse is scheduled to rehearse with the Dap-Kings band at 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Staples Center, a source tells me. If all goes as planned, the source says, the 24-year-old songbird would do two songs: “Rehab” and “You Know I’m No Good.”

A rep for the Grammys confirms the allotted rehearsal time. "They're holding a spot for her," the rep says. "It'll be close if it happens."

I also hear seats in the audience are being held for Winehouse, too. The singer, who is currently undergoing treatment for substance abuse in her native England, is up for six Grammys.

She checked into London’s Capio Nightingale clinic Jan. 24. On Monday, she reportedly visited the U.S. Embassy in the British capital to talk about getting a visa.

Her dad, Mitch Winehouse, has gone public with his feelings that his daughter not make the trip. “I don’t want her to go—I think it might be a bit too soon for her,” he told Britain’s Mirror last week. “She’s not well—that’s why she’s in rehab.”

Winehouse and the Grammys Back On...Maybe

Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse took a field trip from rehab today to hit up the U.S. Embassy in London for a visa. What does it mean? Well, for one thing, the rehabbing singer—who is up for six Grammys—could very well end up performing onstage in Los Angeles this Sunday.

Her father, who accompanied Winehouse along with a nurse from the rehab facility, has already expressed his discontent about the whole trip-to-L.A. idea, telling the Mirror, "I'm not sure the Grammys are going to happen. I don't want her to go—I think it might be a bit too soon for her."

According to her rep, "no decision" has been made about her California trip, and "she has not left rehab and remains under the care of the clinic."

We're rooting for Amy to get better and want her to take as much time as she needs, but we're also a little selfish, too. There's nothing we'd love more than seeing her absolutely kill it at the Staples Center this weekend.
