Director - Dr. Brett Kerr
Students will take courses in all aspects of film production
and screen writing. The program will culminate in a workshop
in Hollywood California in Summer 2009. Students will visit
movie studios, meet the stars and directors and get on-site

The following is a partial description of subject areas available for degree programs. Not all subject areas are included. However, students may request a curriculum guide for any of the subject areas listed below:

Principles of drawing, painting and ceramics. Art History – Art Therapy
BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
BA, MBA and DBA degrees granted. Courses include finance, law, management, human resources, sales promotion, operations management, international business management, and other aspects of the contemporary business world. Courses are current, updated, and prepared with relevancy to the student’s background and experience.
COMPUTER SCIENCE/INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Emphasizes computer literacy; updated computer knowledge, processes, theory, applications, and systems. Textbook and laboratory experiences are provided. A 21st century approach to the rapidly changing information superhighway is the focus of this major.
ECONOMICS
History, principles, theory, and application of economic concepts and ideas, with emphasis on contemporary global economic problems.
EDUCATION
Basic principles, theories and practice of education at all levels of instruction.
ENGINEERING
Electrical, Civil, Chemical, Structural and Mechanical Engineering. Engineering Administration. Courses are supervised by outstanding professionals in the field. On-site practical experience is required of all students prior to graduation.
ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE
Conservation, Ecology, Land Use, Global Environmental Problems, Urban Planning and Development, Conservation of Forests and Ecological Problems of Plant and Animal Life.
ENGLISH
English as a Second Language, Structural English, English Literature, and Business English. Emphasis on grammar, effective writing skills, phonetics, and composition.
FINE ARTS
Principles of drawing, painting, sculpting, design, art history and interior design.
FOREIGN LANGUAGE
Focus on structure and grammar of the target language. Emphasis on written, oral and listening skills. Business and technical language and linguistics. Translation exercises are provided for all standard languages.
FUTURE STUDIES
An investigation into more than seven critical subject areas which are rapidly changing in the new millennium. Course work includes future knowledge, skill development and expertise in the fields of business, economics, education, law, health science, religion and politics.
HEALTH SCIENCES
Occupational Health, Safety, Ergonomics, Hospital Administration, Disease Control, Global Health Problems.
HISTORY
Ancient, Medieval and Modern History, World History, United States History, Asian History, Historiography, History of specific countries.
HOTEL MANAGEMENT
A business and practical approach to hotel and restaurant management, including all facets of the rapidly growing industry. Special emphasis is placed on management, marketing, hospitality, and food services.
INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDIES
The combining of one or more related disciplines into a unified area of focus, to be approved by the University.
JOURNALISM
Writing for Publication, Fiction and Non-Fiction Writing, News Reporting, Journalistic Formats, Mass Media.
LAW
General and specific practices involved in the fields of International Law, EC Law, or the law of individual nations.
INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
Political, social, legal and economic aspects of the relationship between countries. Current and updated.
NURSING AND NURSING ADMINISTRATION
Principles of nursing and nursing administration. Textbook assignments are provided. On-site practical experience must be arranged in the student’s own country. (Student licensing in the field of nursing must be undertaken by the student in his/her country and is not guaranteed by AWU.) A nursing degree from AWU may not qualify the student for licensing.
POLITICAL SCIENCE
Contemporary Political Theory, Comparative Political Systems, Application of Political Science Principles, Bureaucracy, History of Political Thought.
PSYCHOLOGY
Theory, Practical Applications, Adult and Child Psychology, Family Therapy, History of Psychology, Clinical Practice, Contemporary Research, Statistics. Licensing requirements vary by country. Licensing is not the responsibility of AWU. An AWU degree in Psychology may not qualify the student for licensing in a specific country.
PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION
Principles of public administration applied to the organization and infrastructure of large and small bureaucratic units.
SCIENCE
Anthropology, Archaeology, Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Health Sciences, Marine Sciences, Oceanography, Zoology. Other majors in this subject area may be selected by petition to the University.
SOCIOLOGY
Contemporary and Historical Social Systems, Social Theory, Social Problems and Their Resolutions.
THEOLOGY/RELIGION
History, principles and present practices of the world’s great religions.
TELEVISION AND FILM
Principles and theory only.
TRAVEL AND TOURISM
Instruction in the business and practical aspects of travel, including an in-depth look at the most popular tourist destinations around the globe. Group travel, guided tours, individual travel, and all aspects of the business of travel and tourism are presented in this course of study.
