Calcite crystal is normally white or clear, but this variety contains impurities that give it a beautiful blue hue. Calcite is a common constituent of sedimentary rocks, mostly formed from shells of dead marine animals. Under pressure, calcite becomes marble and it forms stalactites and stalagmites in caves and caverns. This piece has been polished by hand to enhance its natural beauty. It is approximately 24cm tall and 14.5cm wide.
